Stop what you are doing this instant because we have an inside scoop on an event you won't want to miss. The Peninsula Picnic is back in full force serving up the best of the Mornington Peninsula's food, wine and music on Saturday 1 April.
Sway along to the folk-pop stylings of Bob Evans and the acoustic guitar loving local Harrison Storm. You’ll also find Triple J Unearthed faves nyck (pronounced n.y.c.k, just fyi) and indie girl group All Our Exes Live in Texas—with a name like that what more is there to say? Now prepare yourself for the big one. Expect a cacophonous parade of sound from headliners The Cat Empire, which is twice as exciting as the word cacophonous.
On the food front, our picks of the day would have to be Montalto and DOC Mornington. Other vendors on site include Max's at Red Hill Estate, Alatonero, Flinders Hotel, Green Olive at Red Hill, Merrick's General Wine Store and Stables Smokehouse. Plus, top chef Adam D'Sylva—aka the guy who makes Coda and Tonka so darn delicious—will be running cooking demonstrations.
If you're a fan of perfect pinot (who isn't) then you're in luck, because the Peninsula's finest winemakers will be on hand. The likes of Montalto Winery, Quealy, Polperro, Prancing Horse and Baillieu Wines from Merricks General Wine store will be slinging wine in your general direction.
