The Team Behind Kai Eatery Open A New Restaurant
What began as a food truck before settling into their CBD home as Kai Eatery has just opened a new restaurant on Dominion Road. General Kai serves Pan-Asian fare that stays true to its origins. From noodles, dumplings and pancakes, to sizzling meats and fried chicken there’s a little something for everyone on the menu. Wash it all down with a bubble tea, wine or beer from their extensive drinks' list.
All Your Baking Dilemmas Are Solved
Hill Street Wholefoods is shaking up baking as we know it. The baking experts have launched their new line of guilt-free baking mixes. We’re talking gluten-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free and vegan. But trust us when we say that does not mean they’re flavour-free. Their choc-chip cookies, banana bread, pancakes, and cacao fudge brownies are now available online.
Ben & Jerry’s Slice Of Heaven
If you’re like anything like us, all self-control goes out the window when we crack open a Ben & Jerry’s pint. Luckily, we’ll all be able to get portion control under control with their latest ice cream addition. Welcome pint slices. Slices of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream covered in cracking dark chocolate. They’re designed to eat with one hand and no spoon to keep you on the go. Available at all good convenience stores and petrol stations.
La Peche X Annabel’s
La Peche is back on the scene once again, after their wildly successful previous pop-ups around town. This time creators Emma Ogilvie and Nick Landsman are teaming up with Ponsonby’s infamous wine bar, Annabel’s, to create La Cave. French-style food will hit the tables, to be washed down with craft beer and suiting wines. The pop-up will take place in Annabel’s hidden courtyard with summer sounds and stalls. Secure a ticket now for Saturday, 16th February.
Valentines At Giapo
Giapo’s head of their creative department, Josh Lee, has gathered inspiration from the Pikorua for their 2019 Valentine’s speciality. The Pikorua combines two ferns intertwined to become one—an important symbol of communication and eternal bond in Maori culture. The Pikorua ice cream comes with two cones, a scoop of your chosen flavour dipped in chocolate and topped with two chocolate pikopiko ferns that join together.
Mission Bay Opens A New Eatery
Eastridge Shopping Centre will be home to the newest eatery to hit Auckland, featuring five of the city’s favourite eats. Boy and Bird’s free-range chicken, K' Road’s Pie Piper and Uncle Man’s, crowd favourite Dante’s Pizza, and the most anticipated out of the bunch, Temaki Truck with their Japanese, Korean, Brazilian fusion. The Eatery opens this Friday.
Peter Gordon’s Makes Yoghurt For Good
As part of The Collective’sseries Chefs For Good, chef Peter Gordon has created a probiotic yoghurt with a portion of proceeds going towards a charity close to his heart, The New Zealand LAM Trust. Previously, star chefs Josh Emett and Al Brown have created flavours for charities of their choice. Peter Gordon’s gourmet feijoa, vanilla, and ginger yoghurt is on sale now, for RRP $5.79.
A Ladies Day Out
Ladies Who Lunch will be at the Vodafone Derby Day on Saturday, 2nd March with their own private lawn marquee, trackside. You’ll have great views of the races and an indoor-outdoor flow to mix and mingle. There will be Moet flutes, canapes to begin, and buffet lunch from award-winning chefs, as well as access to the Cuvee after party. This event is for ladies only, giving you a chance to dress to the nines and enjoy derby day. Tickets are available on eventfinda, with prices going up each tier.
A Lovebucket Of Fondue
Celebrate the day of love at Lovebucket by diving into their chocolate liqueur-infused fondue. Lovebucket is reviving the pleasures of sharing fondue with your love, bringing in mixologist in-chief Laura Lopez’s expertise to create a delectable fountain of running chocolate. For any savoury lovers, they’ve also created a cheese fondue, with an extensive range of French cheeses from Fromagerie & Maison Vauron French Deli, paired with natural wines and cocktails.
Platters Are A Guaranteed Crowd Pleaser
A mother and daughter duo kick-started their new Auckland-based business, Sixteen Regionz, specialising in grazing tables and platters. Their eye-catching creations can cater to any occasion, dietary requirement, and size—from gluten-free to children’s platters to chocolate and cheese specialities. They’re taking orders now via their Sixteen Regionz Facebook page.
Chinese New Year’s At FANG
Celebrations are still in full swing at FANG, with their complementary mini menu for Chinese New Year. The four dishes include scampi mapo tofu, clam with kumara noodle, mala sliced beef shank, and dumplings with Sichuan. FANG is also introducing a brand new cocktail menu on Tuesday, 12th February, with delights like The Tiger and the Fox (rum, ginger, Sichuan papaya jam, white fungus, and cashew milk), as well as their Valentine’s special The Lover (vodka, berries, chocolate, ginseng, Sichuan pepper, and sparkling sake).
