Auckland is never short on foodie news, and we’re making sure to bring you all the hot-off-the-press releases as they break. This week there’s a lot of celebrating to start looking forward to, and naturally, it’s not a celebration without food.

Here’s our roundup of all the foodie news to know this week. 

Krispy Kreme Turns One

If you can believe it, Krispy Kreme has been providing Auckland with their sweet glazed doughnuts all around the city for a whole year now. To celebrate their first birthday in Auckland, Krispy Kreme will be the ones handing out the gifts this Thursday, 28th February. Purchase one full-size box of assorted doughnuts from the Manukau, CBD, or domestic airport stores and pay $1 for an extra dozen box of original glazed doughnuts fresh off the doughnut-mill. Krispy Kreme will also be throwing a “Dough-Nut Grow Up” birthday party from 4pm - 8pm at their Manuaku store with doughnuts, games, and entertainment to celebrate.

Soul Bar’s Rosé All… Month

The weather just keeps getting hotter, and Soul Bar & Bistro want to cool you down. The viaduct bar is transforming the month of March into a rosé, all-day affair. To begin, the décor and staff will all be kitted out in dusty pink hues in celebration of the vino. Every Sunday afternoon in March will be honoured with Sangria Sunday Sessions, with jugs of rosé sangria flowing all day til every drop is gone at 6pm. And lastly, every guy and gal with the word Rose somewhere in their name will be treated to a Soul special rosé cocktail.

All-You-Can-Eat Oysters

The party doesn’t stop at rosé for Soul Bar & Bistro. Tuesday, March 5th is Soul’s most delicious event of the year, 2019’s All You Can Eat Bluff Oysters Festival. 2,000 fresh Bluff Oysters will shortly be en route to the Auckland Viaduct for you to shuck your way to the bottom. As well as fresh oysters, there will also be a variety of battered, and Kilpatrick oysters to devour. A ticket gives you access to the oyster buffet and a flute of Mumm Grand Cordon Champagne on entry. Book now by giving Soul a call to secure your table.

SIDART Welcomes A New Friday Menu

Iconic Ponsonby restaurant SIDART has introduced their new Friday lunch menu, now offering four, five, and six-course dishes to suit appetites small and large. Inspired by a recent trip to India, Chef Sid Sahrawat has created a mix of new sweet and savoury dishes for the innovative Indian menu. A four-course tasting menu and six-course tasting menu are now available, as well as the original five-course option. Friday lunch at SIDART is the best way to round off the week and is now more exciting than ever.

A New Way To Enjoy Creme Eggs

Easter is just around the corner and our favourite chocolate eggs are creeping onto supermarket shelves. To shake things up for Cadbury Creme Egg lovers and for the first time ever, the gooey chocolate is now available in Cadbury milk chocolate blocks. The blocks are limited edition but perfect for sharing with family and friends this Easter. Cadbury Creme Egg Blocks are available in supermarkets and convenience stores near you.

Euro Wants To Call Your Bluff

Euro is all about providing you with the freshest shucked oysters this month. As part of Auckland’s Princes Wharf Oyster Festival, Euro is calling your bluff with all-you-can-eat deals, the Great Bluff Lunch, and special oyster and wine deals. $29.95 will get you a dozen new season Bluff Oysters served au naturel with lemon, or grab a half dozen and rosé of the day for $25. There’s an oyster event to suit every taste, so make sure to head to Euro online to see all the events throughout the festival and secure special event tickets.

Ima Cuisine’s Custard Hot X Buns Are Back

Thank goodness it’s that time of the year again, Ima’s custard, sugar, spice, and everything nice hot cross buns are back for their annual revival. The fresh hot spiced buns, dried fruit, and gooey custard crosses are a modern spin on the traditional Easter buns and will add a dimension of beloved Ima to your Easter weekend. The first batch will be made fresh on March 1st, with 300 up for grabs at the Fort St location. From 4th March – 18th March they’ll be waiting for you in the cabinet, and Ima Cuisine will start taking orders for Easter.

Josh Emett Launches His Food Bible

Gordon Ramsay, Marco Pierre White, Nobu Matshisha, Peter Gordon, and Rick Stein are just some of the world-renowned names that appear in chef Josh Emett’s latest cookbook, The Recipe. Compiling his most beloved recipes over the past fifty years, the book features more than 150 world class cooks who have contributed to help Josh create the ultimate food companion for the everyday home chef. The recipes are humble and detailed, with photographs shot in Josh’s own kitchen. The Recipe goes on sale Thursday 4th April in all good book stores.

St Patty’s Day At Racket Bar

St Patrick’s Day is just on the horizon and for the joyous holiday, Roukai Lane in Britomart is turning into Little Ireland on the 21st of March. Racket Bar will be transformed into the Boilermaker Bar with Jameson drinks specials, entertainment, whiskey tasting, and Irish food specials. Try your hand at some Irish Bingo, taste your way through cocktails and boilermakers, before dining on chip butty’s, baked camembert, spicy chicken wings, and Murphy’s BBQ burgers. Tickets are available online now and include a tasting of five Jameson’s Whiskeys and snacks to match.

International Women’s Day At Vodka Room

As International Women’s Day is a public holiday in Russia, Vodka Room will, of course, be celebrating the empowering day. From Friday 8th March – Sunday 10th March, let all the most important women in your life know how amazing they are at Vodka Room. The Ponsonby bar is hosting a Women’s Day soirée with three days of caviar, high-tea, and champagne, because what more could you need? End the day with a performance in one of the bar’s deluxe karaoke rooms—some Beyoncé ballads would suit.
