Aucklanders, the day has finally arrived. The countless two-hour drives to Hamilton, begging and pleading in the comments on their Instagram page have proved our true dedication to this ice-cream establishment and now, Duck Island Ice Cream has made the long-awaited decision to open a store in Auckland.
Duck Island is not just any old ice-cream parlour. They offer flavours we didn’t know existed, with combinations that sound oh-so wrong but taste oh-so right. Blueberry sour cream gooey butter cake may sound strange, but you'll be hooked after one lick—it’s like a blueberry white chocolate muffin but in ice-cream form.
The shop will feature their classics, such as peppermint slice, salted caramel and cacao crumb and white chocolate, pomegranate and macadamia. But, knowing Duck Island, we wouldn’t be surprised if they had a few specials up their sleeve for their big opening. The store is decorated and designed by The Wonder Group with a pastel vision to give ultimate L.A summer vibes.
Duck Island ice cream is opening on in the refurbished Ponsonby Fire Station on Ponsonby Road, right next to Juliette Hogan and Huffer in either December or January. Watch this space.
