That’s right, you’ve read correctly: Netflix series Mindhunter is slated to return for a second season this August and we are beyond excited. (Well, as excited as we can acceptably be about a series detailing the gruesome murders of some of the most notorious serial killers.)
Executive producer Charlize Theron recently spilled the beans on the Howard Stern Show, so for those of you who have been holding your breath since 2017, you’ll need to hold it for another three months. Sorry.
If you’re out of the loop, Mindhunter follows the story of the two FBI agents who expanded criminal science in the ’70s by delving deep into the psychology of murder. It’s based on retired FBI agent John E. Douglas’ novel Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit and it’s inspired by real interviews with real serial killers.
In a recent interview with Vulture, Douglas dribbled some details surrounding the future of Mindhunter, saying that season two will include David Berkowitz (also known as the Son of Sam) as well as Charles Manson and the Atlanta child killings in the early ’80s. Can’t wait.
