Meet Kage, an exciting new eatery in Kingsland, serving unique fare inspired by flavours of Malaysia, Singapore and the Pacific.
Found on New North Road, step inside and you'll be greeted by a sprawling bar surrounded in urban street art. The restaurant has been three years in the making, with executive chef Ronnie Singh partnering with co-owners Same and Shallen Singh to bring it to life.
Ronnie pulls on fifteen years' of experience in the hospitality industry to bring a unique fusion menu that doesn't disappoint.
At first glance, the offering may appear deliciously overwhelming, with everything from bao buns to burgers.
But start with Sam’s top pick, the chicken wings. Available drenched in masala and pickled lemon, spicy Thai, honey soy as well as garlic and coriander dressings, all it takes is just one bite to fall in love.
Worth raving a’bao, the steamed bao buns are also a winner. Topped with beans, sprouts and coriander the gorgeous soft shell crab creation is our top pick.
Whatever you do, don’t miss your chance to try the ribs. They're char-grilled and braised with herbs with special house-made sauce and your choice of basting. Pro tip: The JD Tennesse BBQ is out-of-this-world.
For a taste of the Pacific look no further than the snapper ceviche topped with fresh tropical salsa in a bed of Fijian coconut milk. Or opt for our top pick, the turmeric and sumac chicken Malaysian Style Roti with peanut sauce.
Wash it all down with original cocktail creations and make sure you save room for the salted chocolate five-spice ice cream—your stomach will thank you.
Serving up urban street food with a twist, newcomer Kage is a must visit.
