A bar entirely dedicated to dumplings has just opened up in Ponsonby and we can’t even. That’s right, getting dumped has never been easier, thanks to newcomer The Gyoza Bar.
Found mid-Ponsonby Road, you simply need to follow the sweet sweet smell of some of the best dumplings in town to find yourself in foodie heaven. A step inside will have you face to face with a curated wine wall, showcasing both local and international selections.
A food trend taking the world by storm, the gyoza dumpling is not to be missed. No longer will the debate between steamed or fried take up quality dumpling time thanks to the harmonious blend of fluffy yet crunchy amazingness, featuring a fried base under a steamed ‘secret recipe’ pastry.
Where one is never enough, you’ll find the menu jam-packed with an extensive range as well other options so mouthwatering, they’ll have you coming back for more.
Our top pick is the pork. Packed alongside cabbage and seasonal vegetables, we just couldn’t get enough of this bundle of joy. Or, pass on the pork and opt for the wagyu beef, a staff favourite, you won’t walk out disappointed.
In the midst of getting dumped don’t forget to check out the karaage chicken. Coated and fried to perfection, this bad boy is not one to miss.
You'll also find everything from terrific tapas, including a wicked tofu salad, hand-cut chips, and edamame, to succulent beef tataki. You’ll easily find yourself spoilt for choice.
