Nike’s iconic marathon shoe has copped a scientific, athlete-approved upgrade and is said to actually make you run, on average, faster.
Called the ZoomX Vaporfly Next%, it’s a rebuild of the Zoom Vaporfly 4% that’s been created with a whole lot of insight, expertise and knowledge from Nike athletes, world champion marathon runners, sports scientists, engineers and designers.
As its name suggests, this slime green marathon shoe has been designed to push you to the next percent, and is packed with a bunch of lightning speed features that make it faster, but also a whole lot more comfortable for long distance racing.
As for what’s been added to the original design (and how it’ll make you speed up on those punishing hills and hang in there longer on drawn-out kilometres), the Next% has been made with a new technical material called "Vaporweave"—lighter than Nike’s legendary Flyknit, and capable of absorbing far less water from sweat and rain.
The Next%'s laces are slightly offset to alleviate pressure along the sensitive part of the foot, there is a thin foam pod inside the heel for additional and long-lasting Achilles support, more foam in the midsole to increase energy return, and improved traction.
Nike's ZoomX Vaporfly Next% will drop July 4 online at Nike.
