As West Australians, we’re lucky to have some of the most beautiful, boast-worthy beaches right on our front doorstep—but this comes with some responsibility. We need to keep our iconic coastline free from harmful plastics and waste so that we can also protect our precious marine life.

In celebration of Plastic Free July, local legends Pelli Bags have teamed up with Take 3 For the Sea, Keep Australia Beautiful WA, the North Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club and Western Metropolitan Regional Council to host a huge beach clean up on Sunday 26 July.

If you haven’t heard of Pelli Bags yet, this Perth-based company has a mission is to reduce the waste in our oceans by 50,000m2 (that's the length of Australia's coastline, FYI) by 2050. They've already cleaned up 25,975m2 in less than a year so we have a funny feeling they might smash that target well in advance and we’re all for helping them get there as quickly as possible. You can read all about their 2050 challenge here and find out how they are doing it, or just round up your mates and lend a helping hand on 26 July.

If the feel-good vibes aren’t enough to get you there, you might be interested in the free gift bag you’ll get after the cleanup. A beautiful Pelli bag filled with goodies from Daisies, not to mention a free coffee from Daisie’s—because cleaning up the coastline is thirsty work.

Once you've got your bag, head to Perth's best bulk food stores to fill it up.
