During winter, Sundays are filled with dread about the weekend ending and having to head back to work, but come summer, Sunday might just be our favourite day of the week. When the sun is shining, Sunday is a fun day and no one at work will blame you for being a little bit dusty, because it would be un-Australian not to make the most of that glorious weather with your nearest and dearest and a cider or two.
Our mates at Somersby know this all too well, which is why we’ve teamed up with them to find you Perth's best Sunday sessions. So gather your friends and make the most of every last drop of your weekend—and keep an eye out for some of our fave Somersby stockists in the line up.
Our Top Cider Picks
If you're keen to kick back with a Somersby cider in hand, these venues have you covered.
The Guildford Hotel
Guildford
If there’s one thing we can say for sure about The Guildford Hotel, it’s that their Sunday sesh game is strong! Whether you grab a bucket of ciders (yep, you'll find Somersby here!) or a bloody Mary with a bun, you’ll be in good hands here. Round up the crew (make sure you’ve got a couple of tennis table pros with you), grab a drink or two and find a spot in the sun before you make your way to the ping pong table!
Bad Apples Bar
Ardross
The crew at Bad Apples know that the way to our hearts is with pizza and chilled tunes, which is why they do $15 pizzas and live music every Sunday. Grab a couple of frosty cold Somersby ciders, a prawn pizza with coriander and chilli slaw and sit back and relax!
Mister Walker
South Perth
If you're after a slightly fancier Sunday evening, head to Mister Walker and drink up that view! Refresh yourself with some ice cold ciders, order a fish taco or two and then sit back and enjoy the live music from 5:30pm. This sounds like the perfect way to wind down from your weekend!
The Best Of The Rest
While cider might not be on the menu, here are a heap of other Sunday session venues that we love.
Coast
North Fremantle
North Freo newbie, Coast, is the ultimate Sunday sesh spot. The vibe here is beach house chic and everyone’s welcome. Whether you’re out to celebrate with cocktails and champagne or you’ve come straight from a swim looking for a relaxed drink or two, you’ll feel right at home here.
The Cottesloe Beach Club
Cottesloe
Sunday’s by the beach are what Perth summers are all about, so head to the Cottesloe Beach Club for a spritz, some good tunes and some seriously good vibes. The food here is pretty epic so make sure you get a couple of plates to share with your mates.
The Ocean Beach Hotel
Cottesloe
While we’re on the topic of Cottesloe, we really couldn’t leave old fave the OBH off the list. Back in our uni days this was THE spot to go. Now that we’re a little more mature, we’d prefer to take a dip in the ocean and roll in here for a mid-afternoon drink overlooking the beach.
El Grotto
Scarborough
If you haven’t been down to El Grotto at Scarborough Beach yet, then cancel your Sunday plans and lock it in for this weekend. Grab yourself some tacos and an icy cold margarita, because Mexican plus cocktails plus beach equals true happiness.
Sweetwater Rooftop Bar
East Fremantle
Nothing says Sunday sesh like a rooftop bar, and Sweetwater is one of the best. This is one of the more civilised Sunday sesh spots in town, so pop on something nice, get your galfranz together and order a couple of bottles of champers.
Embargo Bar
South Perth Foreshore And Elizabeth Quay
Embargo Bar is Perth’s favourite (fine, only) shipping container bar, complete with a rooftop deck and great live entertainment daily. With some of Perth’s best food trucks and pop-up restaurants, a huge selection of local and international craft beers and ciders on tap as well as wine and cocktails, we’d love this place even if it wasn’t right on the river. Docked at the South Perth Foreshore until 26 December before moving back to its original home, Elizabeth Quay, we think you should try and make it to both.
The Merrywell
Crown Perth
If you roll out of bed on Sunday morning with a pounding headache and a hazy memory, the Merrywell brekkies will cure you, no doubt about it. And now that you’re there, you might as well kick on and enjoy a drink and some more delicious bites in the beer garden. Cheers.
