When The Flying Scotsman announced it wouldn’t be re-opening after lockdown back in April, the news was received with a whole lot of sadness, and for good reason. This Beaufort Street mainstay was a favourite among Mount Lawley locals who just wanted a drink, some pub grub and a good time.

Now, after almost six months of thinking we’d lost it for good, Three Pound Group—the guys behind The Stables, The Camfield and The Reveley—have announced they’ll be taking over the lease and bringing this institution back to life.

But hold your horses, we’ve still got a year ahead of us before you’ll be able to step foot in the door once more. This is the group’s first go at renovating a heritage-listed venue, but we have a feeling they’ll do just fine.

The plan is to give it a complete makeover before bringing in the group’s executive chef, Ben Keal, to spruce up the menu with some Aussie pub classics.

Until then, check out all the food and drink news in Perth.
