Each month one member of The Urban List team will be sharing their current obsessions, and—shock—not all of it’s edible!
This month, Urban List Perth Communications Executive, Chloe Lyons shares her new favourite everythings: from the best podcast and workout, to her new shoes, here’s what on her radar.
Bioderma Sensibio H20 Solution Micellar Cleanser
Never has a cult beauty product lived up to its expectations more than this magical little bottle of fancy water. It removes even the most stubborn of waterproof makeup without damaging skin in the process. You don’t even have to rinse!
Shoes that smell like bubblegum? Yes please! There is so much to love about Melissa shoes. They’re comfy, cute and can be washed. They’ll basically last forever because they are made of plastic. I’m loving my Jason Wu Jean IV flatties right now.
The Simple Veganista
I am by no means a vegan, but I do enjoy eating tasty, healthy food which abounds on the pages of The Simple Veganista’s blog. My all time fave recipe has to be the roasted nourish bowl with homemade hummus.
Having to eat doughnuts and burgers as part of my job has certainly had an impact on my waistline, so these days I’ve been keeping up with regular Power Plate classes at the Perth Pilates Studio. They are high-intensity workouts, performed on a vibrating platform and reportedly burn double the amount of calories in half the time of a regular workout. Sounds good to me!
Happier with Gretchen Rubin
For my weekly dose of self-improvement tips I tune in to Happier, a podcast by best-selling American author Gretchen Ruben. Each week Gretchen, a self-confessed happiness bully, and her sister Elizabeth, a TV writer and producer, focus on a happiness habit which can be incorporated into our everyday lives. The habits are simple things like making the bed everyday or cleaning out the closet. Whether I take on the new habits or not, it’s still a fun and upbeat podcast to get me through the morning commute.
Delicious Days in Paris
Prepping for my upcoming honeymoon in Paris, I’ve been getting my nose stuck into Delicious Days in Paris by Jane Paeche. It contains tons of walking tours based around my favourite thing in the whole world, food. I’ve had to stop reading it before bedtime as I found myself reaching for midnight snacks all too often.
Chantecaille Lip Chic Lipsticks
Combining the perfect amount of pigment and shine in one sophisticated metallic tube, the Chantecaille Lip Chic lipsticks have been featuring high in my makeup rotation of late. My favourite shades are Anais and Tea Rose because they offer a pretty pink/nude flush to the lips. The Chantecaille formula plumps the lips and isn’t sticky.
Any hairstyle by Ahn Co Tran
The Ahn Co Tran hairstyle pics that pop up in my Pinterest feed have got me lusting after shoulder length wavy locks like you wouldn’t believe. So much so that I booked an appointment with my fave stylist at Kave Studio to get my hair did immediately after my wedding!
Muji 0.5 Gel Ink Pens
It’s a good thing there are no Muji stores in Perth as I wouldn’t have a dime left in my wallet. I picked up a pack of these 0.5 gel ink pens on a recent trip to Kuala Lumpur and I can’t get enough of them. They’re super smooth and the bright colours make writing to-do lists a whole lot more fun!
Grace and Frankie on Netflix
I have a penchant for movies and TV shows about old people (It’s Complicated is pretty much my favourite movie of all time), so it was no surprise that I developed an addiction to Grace and Frankie on Netflix. The show follows two older ladies (Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin) who’s husbands break it off with them to be with each other. Drama and comedy ensues as the two women learn to live together at their shared beach house.
