Perth just got a whole lot more fun, with the legends at Funlab (Holey Moley and Strike Bowling) bringing a giant new adult-friendly bar and playspace to Forrest Chase. The whole space is decked out to feel like 1970s America—think vintage gas station, barbershop and pawn shop vibes—with Strike on one side and B. Lucky & Sons on the other.
Eat Me Ramen Bar
If a bowl of the umami bomb ramen from Eat Me Ramen Bar in the Perth CBD doesn’t make your face light up, then you must be dead inside. Their ramen game is strong, but their fried chicken is just as good, especially the #imnottakoyaki—crispy boneless chicken served with pickled ginger, mayo, takoyaki sauce and bonito flakes. Get one of everything and call it a day.

Named after an unsuccessful secession movement to extricate our sunny state from the rest of the Commonwealth, the crew from Perth bar, The Dominion League are proud of the West Aussie way of life, but keen to lay the political past of the old league to rest. With a wood fire upstairs and velvet clad booths in the basement, it’s very easy to nestle in and get cosy at this Perth bar. Add a few cocktails and some tasty share plates into the mix and you’ve got the makings for the best night ever.

You've probably walked past Tong 86 a million times and never noticed it or been tempted to go inside, but let me tell you, this is one of Perth's best Korean BBQ joints. Yes, you sit on dodgy old chairs and yes, the interiors are nothing to write home about, but the food is delicious. Especially the kimchi stew and the kimchi pancake (fan, much?). Make sure you dip your BBQ meats in the peppery peanut oil dressing and wrap them up in a lettuce leaf, it's so good!

Arirang is probably the most well-known Korean BBQ spot in Perth, and for good reason, the food is delicious! In the meat department, the beef bulgogi is a real winner, but they've also got wagyu, three-layered pork belly and marinated beef ribs—bring on the meat sweats! While you're there, definitely order a serving of the kimcheese fried rice.

Lazy Lee Burger Bar is definitely a good place to go if you’re wanting a cheap and delicious feed in Perth. Found on the first floor of Perth’s new Hostel G, as the name suggests, they specialise in burgers.
Oriental Market & Grocer
Oriental Market & Grocer—OMG—is one of the latest ventures from Perth’s dumpling queen Jacquie Chan. The Miss Chow’s owner saw a gap in the market for an Asian-style grocer stocking specialty ingredients, ready-to-go meals, frozen foods and WA fresh produce. Made with local ingredients and featuring authentic recipes, the ready-made meals have made weeknight dinners much simpler, and OMG is soon to feature a liquor store. Stay tuned.
Small Talk Bar
Housed at Campus Perth (AKA the old Telstra building on Stirling Street), Small Talk is a Japanese izakaya-style eatery that seats 200. Headed up by Chef Ricky Lim (formerly of Bib & Tucker), the share-style menu incorporates WA produce with traditional Japanese flavours, and at the bar you’ll find specialty Japanese liquors.
Lot 20
Lot 20 is a little Perth bar with a big food focus. The friendly staff will chew your ear off about the nosh, and it's well worth listening up, because they're doing the gastro-pub thing very well.

After lugging their adorable gelato carts around the market scene to great success, Chicho Gelato opened up their first ever shopfront and has since become a Northbridge institution. Having studied at gelato university in Italy, the cold creamy stuff made by owners Carly and Cesare De Bartolo is the shiz-nit. It’s the kind of gelato that actually tastes the way it sounds, made with nothing artificial and only the best ingredients.
The Bird
This casual backyard hipster hangout and live music mecca is the perfect place to see a cool new band or while away a Sunday arvo. Have a boogie inside or head to the courtyard for a more relaxed vibe.
Kakulas Brothers
Perth gourmet grocer, Kakulas Brothers in Northbridge have all of the things! It's no surprise these guys have been around since 1929—while the chocolate covered raspberries have our hearts, Kakulas Brothers’ specialty has to be their range of by-the-kilo spices, grains, coffee beans and seeds. They also stock all of those hard-to-find specialty ingredients, an epic selection of international foods and cold meats for days. Let’s just say you’ll leave with more than what’s on your shopping list.
Northside Books
Possibly the best bookstore in Perth, Northside Books in Northbridge is a book lovers wonderland. Home to every genre your nerdy little heart could desire, including Fiction, non-fiction, and children's books, Northside Books also does a decent coffee and has a small selection of baked goods to keep your energy up. Eclectic and authentic, Northside Books is just the kind of Perth bookstore we'd happily while away a day in.
Govinda’s
Perth restaurant Govinda’s, the Hare Krishna joint on William Street, regularly feeds the Perth peeps with the cheapest veggo food around. The most money to be spent at this Indian buffet is the $10 all-you-can-eat option – so there is no excuse not to stuff your veggie lovin’ face. One of our faves.
Le Vietnam
It’s all about the bánh mì at Le Vietnam on Barrack Street in Perth. This Vietnamese-cum-French Cafe frequently changes up their menu, you’re likely to find tasty fillings like pulled pork and soft shell crab—but whatever you order, it will be delicious.

Fashion, homewares, art and tea come out to play at Perth boutique, tú in Northbridge. With clothes and homewares at the front of the shop, a gallery space in the stairwell and tea for tú, a delicious little tea spot, tucked down the back, tú have created a cultural oasis in the heart of Perth. Brands stocked at tú include Alice McCall, Milk & Thistle and Status Anxiety.
The Alex Hotel
