December? Already? Yep, it’s the last month of 2016 and it’s time to make the most of living in this fabulous region of ours with this list of things to do on the Sunshine Coast.

There’s plenty of Christmassy things to do but also some great music coming to our shores, markets to spend up large, and even a sit down comedy club.

Get your to-do list ready!

Nights On Ocean | December 9

Jot this one down in the diary or you’ll miss it! Happening this Friday, Nights on Ocean is set to transform the quaint cafe-lined Ocean Street into a bustling hub of food stands, pop-up bars, and fashion stalls in the lead up to a very merry Christmas. Trust us, as soon as it’s over, you’ll be counting down the days until the next one. All the fun kicks off at 5pm.

Sit Down Comedy Club At The Post Office | December 14

There’s nothing better than laughing so hard you seriously start to question how much longer your bladder will hold it together. Can we just agree on that? This month, The Post Office is hosting a whopping double feature, with Jacques Barrett and Mark McConnville taking to the mic to serve up a night of jokes. At only $20 a ticket, it’s a pretty cheap date night that’ll get you in the good books for sure!

Tealight Tales With Wes Carr | December 15

We’re basically fans of everything The Velo Project does, before we even know what it is they’re actually doing. Seriously! And Tealight Tales with Wes Carr is no exception. This intimate mid-week event will see Wes Carr set up at Velo for a night of live acoustic tunes. It’s BYO and some of Velo’s delish food will be available for purchase on the night, making it one of the best low-key shindigs to get you through to the weekend.

Carols On Kings Beach | December 17

There’s plenty of Christmas cheer, tree lighting, and Santa appearances happening all up and down the Coast, but this southern event remains one of the best. Gather up the kidlets or besties, pack a picnic, dust off your fuzzy Santa hat and reindeer antlers, then head down to Carols on Kings Beach at the Kings Beach Amphitheatre, and get amongst the festivities.

Don’t know what to get your beer-lovin’ bf for Christmas? Count this as the ultimate pressie that’ll really show how much you “understand” him. The Christmas Cheer Tour kicks off at Taps Mooloolaba, and takes you around to some of the best local breweries on the Sunshine Coast. Yep, you’ll cruise around the region enjoying lunch, brewery tours, and of course, beer tastings. And there’s no need to worry about going over the limit, ‘cause this tour comes with a designated driver. Winning!

Woodford Folk Festival | December 27 to January 1

Summer and festivals go together like Hank and Karen. And no matter how many seasons (or years) they try to convince us that it’s just not working (because of Queensland’s crazy summer storms) the fact is, it’s meant to be. This year’s Woodford Folk Festival line-up is looking mighty strong with the likes of Gang of Youths, Urthboy, Thelma Plum, Tash Sultana, Blue King Brown, Little May, and Paul Kelly rocking out. Get the sparkles ready ‘cause it’s gonna be a big one!

New Year’s Eve On The Sunshine Coast | December 31

Given this month is dominated by the jolly fat man in the red suit, we know it’s hard to think past December 25. But, it’ll also be here and gone before we know it, which can only mean one thing—New Year’s Eve parties! Word of the Coast’s hottest parties are just starting to trickle in, so keeps your eyes on Metropolist as we dish the dirt on the best of the best.

A Whole Heap Of Markets | All Month Long

We’d be totally lying if we said this month was a quiet one when it came to getting your market on. Because, there’s a sh*tload of ‘em happening around the Sunshine Coast. So many, in fact, that we took the liberty of compiling a list of awesome markets you need to check out this December. You’re welcome!
