Big news gin lovers, a huge festival featuring our favourite clear beverage is coming to Southeast Queensland and we’re almost drunk with excitement!
In celebration of spring returning to our sun-soaked state, the Jacaranda Gin Festival is taking over the historic Newstead House in Brisbane on Saturday 7 September for an afternoon of craft gins, jacaranda blooms, food truck feeds, cocktail workshops and plenty more.
For one boozy afternoon, Newstead House's lush lawns will be transformed into a 'gin marketplace,' and frankly, we're amazed those two words haven't been put together before.
The full line up of gins who'll be putting in an appearance hasn't been announced yet, but with last year's festival featuring drops like Ink Gin, Four Pillars, Cape Byron Distillery and Brookie's Gin, we're pretty optimistic that this year's list will be just as epic.
Ticketing options vary depending on how gin-obsessed you are: A Gin Club ticket ($35 first release) will get you entry and 10 free tastings from the gin stalls, while a Gin Lounge ticket ($88) ensures you have a dedicated seating area for you and your crew on Newstead House's breezy verandah, with a welcome G&T in addition to those 10 free tastings. Signature cocktails will also be available from top distillers with the purchase of tokens and there'll be cash bars to whet your whistle at if you want to switch it up from gin (but why would you?).
Because this whole shindig is taking place at Newstead House, there will also be DJs, entertainment and competitions to keep the good times flowing all day, plus a plethora of food trucks showing up to keep hunger at bay. And with the festivities carrying on well into the night, you can settle in for a long afternoon taking advantage of Queensland's glorious spring vibes.
