In what’s set to be the biggest news of the week, the Gold Coast’s award-winning street food night market, NightQuarter is launching on the Sunshine Coast next month and we can barely contain our excitement.
Opening on the Gold Coast in 2015, NightQuarter gained thousands of loyal followers for its enticing mix of incredible food and interactive installations, as well as pulling some of the best big name live music acts. But, in early 2019, the thriving marketplace sadly closed its doors due to a rent dispute with the landlord.
In an unexpected turn of events, Gold Coast’s loss will become the Sunshine Coast’s gain, when NightQuarter sets up its permanent Eat Street-style market in upcycled shipping containers next month.
That’s right, the successful and beloved entertainment precinct has announced its highly anticipated Sunshine Coast opening weekend and it is (drumroll please) from Friday 6 November to Sunday 8 November.
This eclectic sprawling night market will be located in Birtinya and we’ve no doubt it’s going to be the best place to mosey and taste your way around every weekend. The venue will be open year-round every Friday and Saturday from 4 pm - 10 pm and every Sunday from 12 pm - 6 pm.
Along with the delectable food, what really set this market apart on the Gold Coast, was its support of live music. Hosting the likes of The Cat Empire, UB40, Amy Shark, The Living End and so many more, it’s safe to say we can expect some impressive talent to hit our Sunshine Coast shores and the NightQuarter stage hopefully in 2021.
Partnering with local brewery Eumundi Brewery, there will also be an Eumundi Backyard dedicated to local craft beers, live tunes and games. Queensland winery Sirromet have also created a cellar door style experience with a wine bar and wine tastings, and Jack Daniels have created ‘Jack’s Bar’ dedicated to great whiskey and live music with whiskey tasting flights.
Bursting with energy, colour and plenty of ridiculously good smells, NightQuarter will create a much-needed urban playground in the heart of our coastal region. And we can hand-on-heart say, this is something you’re definitely going to want to check out.
So spread the word, and get ready to open your wallet, loosen your belt, and enjoy a multi-sensory feast like nothing the Coast has seen.
