You’d think that after months of binging Netflix, Stan and every single streaming service known to man that we’d be over the flicks by now, but honestly, nothing beats a trip to the movies.
Maybe it’s the smell of buttery popcorn that hits you in face the second you step inside, the plush comfy chairs or the chance to switch your phone off and disconnect from the outside world—whatever it is, we love a good movie sesh.
Fortunately, after months of lockdown and restrictions, the first of the Sunshine Coast’s cinemas has re-opened today.
Caloundra’s BigScreen Cinemas are back at it, dishing up films on the daily for just a tiny $10 ticket price.
They’ve swung open their doors with a thoughtfully-curated selection of independent films, including The Keeper, Old Boys and Hurricane. You can view the complete list and timetable of screenings here.
There will be some changes to your post-COVID cinema experience, and it goes without saying it’s for your safety and those around you. Measures include capped cinema capacities, which will allow friends and families to remain seated together while distanced from other bookings.
Additional changes also include online bookings and candy bar purchases, staggered screenings to avoid unnecessary congestion in foyers and loads of sanitiser and disinfectant. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to us.
You can purchase tickets now. Head here to secure your spot.
