Early morning taco cravings are now a thing of the past, thanks to the Sunshine Coast’s new taqueria, Xalapa.
Popping up on Hastings Street, a stone’s throw from the beach, this pastel-coloured kiosk serves up super fresh tacos daily, from 6am until late. And they’ll make your mouth water!
With two hard-to-choose-between breakfast tacos on offer, we totally recommend grabbing one of each—the B& E; loaded with Dragan Farm free-range egg, free-range bacon, housemade guacamole, pico de gallo and chipotle mayo, and the Huevos Rancheros; piled with Mexican black beans, free-range egg, melted cheese, pico de gallo and fresh tomatillo salsa.
Because breakfast isn’t complete without liquid fuel, grab a smooth coffee—they’re pouring The Cat’s Pyjamas blend—or dive deep into the world of dairy-free elixirs and tonics. Our favourite though? The dairy-free smoothies. There’s seven delicious flavours on the drinks list, all made with housemade nut milks and butters…we’re not kidding, these guys make everything.
Try the Maca Caramel Frappe with cashew milk, almond butter, dates, banana, organic maca, vanilla and espresso for the perfect wake-me-up, or the Banana Bread, a blend of pecan milk, banana, almond butter, dates, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla.
Not a breakfast person? You’re in luck. Xalapa pile up their housemade, gluten-free, organic tortillas for lunch and dinner, so you won’t miss out. Opt for a serving of one, two or three tacos, and you’ll get to taste the likes of Barbacoa Beef with a crispy lime slaw and fresh salsa, Southern Fried Buttermilk Chicken, coated in spices with a blackened tomatillo, pineapple and jalapeno salsa, and Salt and Pepper Tofu with seasonal veggies, mirin dressing, roasted sesame seeds and coriander. Yep, you just died and went to taco heaven.
For the littlies, there are kid’s tacos and, for the sweet tooths, you’ll find freshly cooked churros with dulce de leche. Yum.
Perfect for that early post-surf breakfast, lazy beach day lunch or last-minute family dinner run, Xalapa’s menu is packed with so much tasty nosh, that we can almost guarantee you’ll become a regular, tasting your way through each dish.
Now open seven days a week, from 5am (food starts at 6am) until late, next time you’re in Noosa drop by and give this family-run taqueria a holla.
