3 Party Makeup Must-Tries

Don't get stuck in the same-old makeup rut…it's time to change things up a little! We've turned to the stars to inspire three hot new makeup looks to ensure you always look picture perfect.

WHO: Scarlett Johansson (aka ScarJo)
WHAT: A sexy neon pout

Party beauty Looks

HOW: To replicate ScarJo's peaches and cream complexion, work a good mineral foundation into the skin with a kabuki brush. This look is all about a healthy summer glow so contour cheeks with a bronzer, sweeping from apples to temples and lightly down the T-zone. Lift the eyes with smouldering copper tones, starting with a base eye shadow in bronze applied over the entire lid. Work a metallic apricot shade into the corners of eyes and gently work along the bottom lash line too. Set eyes on fire by lining top and bottom with a copper pencil and two coats of black mascara. And whether you prefer lipstick or gloss, apply the colour of the season over lips – neon coral - for a smooch-ready pout that will make teeth seem whiter, too. For extra staying power, outline lips in a matching shade of pencil. Like Scarlett, you'll feel ready to "avenge" partygoers like a super hero!

Issada Mineral Neon Gloss in Neon Mistress, $45
Nars Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Skorpios, $39
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Adored, $47, Mac Cosmetics
Colour Pro Eye Shadow in Light Bronze, $35, Gorgeous Cosmetics

WHO: Katy Perry
WHAT: Two-tone pastel peppers

Party beauty looks

HOW: To make the boys "roar" at your upcoming Christmas or New Year's Eve party, why not go for a sparkling colour explosion on your eyes, like pop star Katy Perry? Apply a creamy foundation to skin with a foundation brush, working product upwards and outwards from the nose. Set with a dusting of translucent powder for an alabaster finish. Stain cheeks and lips with a pretty pastel pink for an innocent flush and pout. For the star attraction – the eyes – sweep lids with a deep and vibrant purple with your eye shadow brush. With a lighter lilac shade work shadow from the corner of eyes to the brow bone, blending as you go. Meanwhile on the lower lash line, pencil on a minty green for stunning contrast. Extend the colour slightly lower than you would regular eye liner and smudge. Finish the look with black eye pencil along the top lash line, a bit more smudging, and lashings of black mascara. You could even throw in a few falsies to really get your flirt on! Neatly fill in brows in a shade slightly paler than your hair colour and you're set.

Seriously Violet Shimmer Dust, $25, Gorgeous Cosmetics
Nars Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Rue de Rivoli, $38
Nars Brow Perfector, $35
Benefit Posie Tint, $55

WHO: Karlie Kloss
WHAT: Soft and smoky

Party Beauty Looks

HOW: Smoky eyes don't have to be all charcoal and ash! Take your cue from Victoria's Secret beauty, Karlie, and go for a "neutral smoke". To recreate her dewy skin, prime face with a BB Cream to conceal imperfections and even skin tone. Next apply a cream blush to the apples of cheeks and blend well, dabbing into the skin. Choose a metallic mushroom shade of eye shadow and highlight lids for an ever-so-subtle hint of purple. Blend a shimmering gold shadow over the top, working from the inner corner of the eye to the brow bone. Line eyes first with black eyeliner and smudge; then follow with a gold pencil, paying particular attention to the inner corner and lower lash line to make eyes twinkle. False lashes on the outer eye corners will work a treat here, as will black mascara for a totally seductive look. Keeps lips creamy and neutral with a soft pink and start strutting, girl!
