There isn’t a single thing that’s disappointing about Arbory Afloat. Well, aside from the fact that we can’t enjoy it all year long. As they say, all good things must come to an end. But finally, we’ve got four words we know you’ve been waiting to hear: Arbory Afloat is back.
And not only is Afloat making its return to the Yarra River earlier than ever before, this year they’re shaking things up and bringing a little Miami Heat to our Melburnian summer.
This month, Afloat will rebirth with a new look and feel, bringing all the summer vibes of a 1970s Miami poolside, decked out in art-deco style, with palm trees and pastel blues and pinks to complete the look.
In true Afloat style, they’ll be taking things next level, this year extending the upper deck to allow even more maxing and relaxing, featuring private cabanas. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, they went and threw a swimming pool into the mix. Yep, we’re wondering if this is real life, too.
So what can you nibble on while you kick back in your private cabana?
Arbory Afloat executive chef, Nick Bennett has created a food offering which celebrates all things Latin American, the Caribbean, Cuba and Mexico. You can expect a selection of grilled meats, empanadas and other snacks designed for sharing.
There’ll also be a focus on seafood too, with the menu showcasing some of Australia’s finest oysters, ceviche and anchovies. And yes, because they know how to give the people what they want, Afloat’s mouth-wateringly good wood-fired pizzas are back on the cards too.
To top it all off, there’ll be a selection of fruity cocktails on-hand, not to mention an extended rum menu, a curated gin offering and an entire section dedicated to spritzy cocktails. Come later this month, I guess we’ll know where to find you.
