When we dropped the news last year that Hamilton was headed down under, you were understandably shook.
The multi award-winning musical, created by Lin-Manuel Miranda, was initially due to head to our shores in March 2021. But with a little thing called COVID getting in the way, that's on the back burner for now. Fortunately, there's still a chance to see the ground-breaking hip hop musical, and you don’t even need to max out your credit card for it. Hype up, because Hamilton the movie is coming direct to your lounge.
That’s right, Disney+ have just confirmed they’re bringing the 11-time-Tony Award, GRAMMY Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning stage musical to homes around the world on Friday 3 July. The small screen version isn’t an adaption of Hamilton, but a live capture of a stage performance shot on Broadway with the entire OG cast including Miranda himself as Alexander Hamilton.
It had originally been slated for a theatrical release on 15 October 2021, so Disney+ have done us a serious solid releasing it over a year early.
So, hit up your musical-loving pals and enjoy a night at the theatre... while still in your PJs.
