On the hunt for the perfect summer dining and drinks spot? Look no further.

Nestled amongst Melbourne’s bustling Southbank is the stunning Riverside Quay by Mirvac, and most recently, a slew of culinary heavyweights launched a brand-spanking-new outdoor pop-up. The outdoor precinct is lined with alfresco spaces extending along the Yarra that are beckoning you in with mouthwatering menus and impressive cocktails.

Consider your summer soirees sorted as this open-air dining experience is sticking around until 31 March 2021. Whether you’re in it for the European menus and luxe cocktails or you’re down for craft beer and burgers, this is your new local for lunch, dinner, or after-work drinks.

Let’s take a deep dive into the restaurants dishing up epic feeds and drinks, all served with a side of stunning river views.

Left Bank

Thanks to the spacious pop-up, there's plenty of room to kick back, soak up the glorious sunshine and sip on a world-class cocktail at Left Bank. With a seriously 'grammable outdoor situation like this, plus a downright impressive range of drinks to choose from, you best believe we're going to be booking a table at Left Bank's pop-up—and we reckon you should too. You can expect to find everything from yakitori pork belly to king salmon, pizza, burgers and salads. Plus, the outdoor area has been transformed into a Mumm rose garden with specials on bottles of Mumm Champagne—don't mind if we do.

Breslin

For a safe and vibrant day out with your best mates in tow, make tracks to The Breslin Bar & Grill and get set to soak up some serious sunshine. This place has New York grill vibes, serving up next-level ribs and burgers that deliver both quality and quantity. Their ethos is to use all cooking methods at their disposal to make the most of every part of the animal. The result is a menu packed with mouthwatering dishes that are tender, delicious, and cooked to perfection without any waste.

As far as drinks are concerned, this is the place to be if you’re jonesing for a cocktail. You can, of course, order any classic cocktail you want, but why would you when they have a whole menu of mindblowing creations to choose from? Turn up the heat with a Jalapeño Margarita, get a buzz going with their iconic Breslin Espresso Martini, or sip on the rosemary-infused goodness that is their Pear Patch cocktail. Better still, plan your visit around happy hour which is every Tuesday to Friday from 3pm to 6:30pm, and Saturday to Sunday from12pm to 4pm. Happy hour includes $6 house spirits (weekdays only), $7 house wine, $8 pint of Furphy, $10 pint of Heineken and cocktail specials (weekend only from 12pm to 6pm). Winning!

Soho

If you're a big fan of authentic Italian cuisine, then you'll need to make a beeline for Soho Restaurant & Bar. The star of the show at Soho is without a doubt their extensive menu. Expect all your traditional Italian favourites with fresh twists that add another level of complexity and flavour to every dish. Stop by on a weekday between 3pm and 6:30pm to try out their creative signature cocktails at happy hour. We recommend the Sherry and Fig Sour, Mango and Chilli Margarita, and the Pornstar Martini. And thanks to all the added outdoor dining space at the pop-up, there's plenty of opportunities to book for large groups or private dining—so fire up the group chat!

Hopscotch

Itching for a brew? Hopscotch has you covered. Known as Southbank’s urban backyard, this beer bar is the go-to after-work drinks spot for all beer lovers, with 36 flavours on tap every weekday. We’re talking pales, stouts, darks, lagers, wheats, and pretty much every type of brew your beer-loving brain can imagine. They even have cocktails on tap and are known for mixing up a bespoke cocktail jug from time to time if you ask super nicely.

What beer bar is complete without a finger-licking menu? Full of both one-handed eats for those who don’t want to put their beer down (we totally get you) as well as more substantial burgers, sangas and more, you won’t go hungry.

Ludlow

Last but not least, we have Melbourne haunt Ludlow Bar & Dining Room, the perfect spot to pause and soak up summer in all its glory. Their massive drinks menu has an impressive range of spirits, reds, whites, champagnes, and even dessert sips. With a simple dining menu that sports all the favourites, Ludlow is perfect for dining, nibbling, or just enjoying casual drinks. If we had to pick? We can't get enough of their fish and chips, homemade gnocchi and barramundi.
