Let’s face it, feijoas are a part of our nation’s DNA. And, now Aucklanders have the opportunity to indulge in their love of the juicy green fruit at the Feijoa Festival.
That’s right, Takapuna’s Pump House Theatre is hosting a festival dedicated to this fruit. Bringing the community together it provides an interactive event that includes fresh, local organic food and beverages as well as local and international music and there are even art displays and a feijoa forest dance floor.
The music includes everything from classic singalong covers to Jimi Hendrix-inspired rock’n’roll, old school reggae, new style funk and DJ’s covering a wide range of genres.
Naturally, food and drinks are essential to any festival and the Feijoa Festival has it all. Lothlorien will serve a wide variety of feijoa wine and there will be numerous food stalls all serving up various flavours of the green fruit, from the sweet to the savoury.
This sensory experience also supports The All Good Club—a non-profit organisation that helps raise awareness of men’s mental health. There will be raffles during the day to help raise money for this legendary cause.
But the party doesn’t stop there. After the feijoa celebrations are over, head along to Macs Brew Bar in Takapuna for some beersies with professional fire dancers, a live band and various DJ’s to take the party into the night.
