Summer in Perth sometimes means a week of 40 plus degree days, but it also means balmy nights that absolutely MUST be spent outside (mainly because your house is hotter than an oven but also because we love the great outdoors). Luckily everyone in Perth is on the same page so when you suggest an evening at the night markets, even on a school night, everyone’s keen to jump on the bandwagon. Warm nights, cheap food and (sometimes good, sometimes questionable) live music make it easy to love Perth’s night markets.
Read on for our pick of Perth’s best night markets.
Twilight Hawkers Markets
The Twilight Hawkers Markets have been bringing outdoor deliciousness to the good people of Perth since 2011 and have got the whole night market thing down pact. No matter what kind of food you’ve got a hankering for, you’ll be able to find it here and once you’ve found what you’re after, grab a seat, enjoy some live music and soak up the sweet market-y vibes. It’s hard for us to pick our favourite food but the La Bombetta pork cone is out of this world good.
The Twilight Hawkers Market runs on Fridays from 4:30-9:30pm until 29 April 2016.
Night Noodle Markets
The Night Noodle Markets knocked our socks off in 2015 and this year, they’re setting up at our new favourite Perth hotspot, Elizabeth Quay. With restaurants like The Apple Daily, Lucky Chan’s and Low Key Chow House dishing out their finest food, market styles, last year we are pretty dang excited to see what’s in store for us this year.
The Night Noodle Markets will hit Elizabeth Quay from 30 March—10 April 2016.
Monday Night Markets
Monday’s just got a little less sucky. The Monday Night Markets in Inglewood transform Beaufort Street into a mini street festival with truck loads of food and a stellar line up of stalls. Get around the Hummus Club for dinner and finish up with some dee-licious Cocowhip from Coco Lycious. #NoCookMondays for the win!
The Monday Night Markets run until the end of March from 6-9:30pm.
South Beach Sunset Markets
Perth’s only markets on the beach, we think the South Beach Sunset Markets are on to something pretty fine. Grab your bathers and have a dip while you try and decide what you’re going to eat. Hot tip: skip lunch and save yourself for double dinner because there is way too much goodness to choose one, South American BBQ and a hot doughnut anyone? Grab a drink from the Sunset Bar and enjoy entertainment from live local acts as you watch the sunset over the ocean… swoon.
The South Beach Sunset Markets run on Saturdays from 5pm to 9pm until late March / early April. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates.
Put this one in the diary, guys. Located at The Rise in Maylands, the Maylands Markets are the perfect place to pull out your picnic blankets and smash a pulled pork sambo or a big plate of paella. This one is super kid friendly with face painting and mega bubbles galore, but if street drinking is more your thing (not that we’re encouraging that) grab a bottle of wine to pair with your picnic #enjoyresponsibly.
The Maylands Markets run every Saturday night until the end of March from 5-9pm.
Kalamunda Night Markets
Once you’re stuffed full of dumplings and sliders at the Kalamunda Night Markets, take a stroll through the markets and check out some of the stalls that are selling things other than food… yep that’s right, clothes, jewellery, presents for your pup and more! And once that food baby has subsided, pick up some hand crafted chocolates or rocky road to fill yourself right back up again… or I guess you could take it home if you really must.
The Kalamunda Night Markets run on the last Friday of each month from 6-9pm.
