With a milestone New Year’s Eve almost upon us, it’s time to get those plans finalised for the big night. The city will be a hive of activity with loads of free entertainment and fireworks happening at Yagan Square and the Perth Cultural Centre, and there’s so many NYE parties being hosted by some of our favourite venues that it’s near impossible to make a decision.
So, we’ve teamed up with City of Perth to bring you ten of the best NYE events happening around the city this year.
Free Events
Perth Cultural Centre & Yagan Square
City of Perth are getting right into the New Year’s Eve celebrations this year with a huge line up of free events happening at the Perth Cultural Centre and Yagan Square before ringing in 2020 with an official countdown and fireworks. Head down to Perth Cultural Centre from 6pm and check out some live music from rockers Cherry Jane, grunge outfit Flossy, pop four-piece Dulcie, and soul-jazz fusion masters Butter. With two massive entertainment stages, Yagan Square is the place to be for music, shows and a heap of rides and games for all adrenaline levels. Got kiddos in tow? There’s a 9pm countdown and mini fireworks show just for them.
Return of the 90’s NYE Party
Yes Please
Ring in the end of 2019 with a return to the decade when cheesy tunes reigned supreme and all we had to worry about was having a good time. This NYE at Yes Please you can eat, drink and dance the night away to all your fave 90s hits for just $20 while enjoying one of the best vantage points in the city for the fireworks.
NYE Rooftop Party
QT Rooftop
This is one party you won’t have to worry about finding a surcharge-free Uber to get you home from, you can just disappear to your hotel suite. But before that, you’ll be partying the night away on the fabulous QT Rooftop to the sounds of Beryl Streep and DJ Nas while eating your way through the roving food stations. Drinks will be flowing from 7pm.
Sundowner NYE Party
Aurora Rooftop Bar
Aurora Rooftop Bar are doing New Year's a little differently, and instead of counting down ‘til midnight they’ll be counting down to the last sunset of 2019. Refresh yourself at this free event with a complimentary Aperol Spritz on arrival and watch the sun set over the city skyline. The perfect way to kick off your NYE celebrations.
Origin Fields
Wellington SQUARE
If you really want to party hard, then the Origin Fields two-day extravaganza is where it’s at. With an absolutely huge line up of international and Australian acts including RÜFÜS DU SOL and Tyler, The Creator coming at you over New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, you’ll be heading into 2020 with a bang.
Bar Pop NYE Party
Ice Cream Factory
Bar Pop is back at the Ice Cream Factory for another huge NYE party, featuring six stages, 11 bars waiting to quench your thirst, pop-up food stands, a massive silent disco, rides, garden games—the works. The last five years have sold out, so there’s no time for hesitation if you’re keen on this event.
No Scrubs New Year’s Eve Party
The Sewing Room
This NYE, The Sewing Room are doing what they do best and throwing an epic early 90s early 00s party. The dance floor will be pumping with all your favourite hits from the likes of Britney Spears, Kylie, 5IVE and Destiny’s Child, and the party won’t stop until 3am.
