While we're only just digging our teeth into Pre-Fall trends, New York Fashion Week Autumn/Winter '19 has hit, and with it brings all the newness we're about to see everywhere. While glitter, neon splashes and maxed-out 90s grunge have all carried over from SS '19, it was the emerging hair and nail decorative looks that had everyone talking in NYC.
Once the embodyment of ladylike prim, diamonds and pearls are the latest luxury accents being given a very modern overhaul. From plentiful crystal braids to clustered pearl nail art and crystal bejewelled skin, NYFW’s takeaway trend was accessorising to excess.
These are the three key beauty trends to rock straight from the New York Fashion Week runways.
Cluster Pearl Accents At Adeam
Teaming up once again with OPI's Mei Kawajiri (her bejewelled nails for SS19 were a notable highlight), the nail artist was brought onto the beauty team for Adeam to create custom nail art for each model's look, incorporating oversized pearls on long, tapered nails in navy and pearlescent pinks. Tying the look, models had delicate pearls placed in the inner corners of the eye that matched the designer's pearl-embellished bags, jewellery and shoes.
Layered Chainmail Ponytails At Christian Siriano
Celebrity hair stylist, Justine Marjan was named lead hair stylist for Christian Siriano’s NYFW AW '19 show, creating intricately layered chainmail ponytails that tapered out at the ends, giving a luxurious grunge texture to model’s sleek looks.
Technicolour Crystal Strands At Area
Famed for his work on the sets of fashion magazines and designer houses, Jawaraw was tasked with creating the incredible looks for Area’s AW19 show. Adding layers of crystal strands in a myriad of colours to braids, Bantu knots and low ponytails, models’ hair glistened as they walked the runway.
