When we first heard of the generously large and delicious breakfasts Tiago Kitchen was dishing up we couldn’t wait to visit this new addition to Joondalup. We knew the dishes were super Instagram-worthy (due to our constant stalking of their Nutella French Toast) but we needed to try the sweet, sweet goodness for ourselves.
Tucked in the heart of the Joondalup ‘burbs and just around the corner from Paper Avenue, Tiago Kitchen is a bright and fresh family run cafe that the locals have needed for a while. You may even spot said locals kissing the feet of owner Lara and her family for bringing said Nutella toast to their home town. The high ceilings, white walls, greenery, comfy cushions and stacks of seating make the space perfect for a breakfast date with a bunch of friends. We think it’s pretty awesome, especially considering that this is the family’s first foodie venture.
The breakfast menu boasts affordable prices and generous servings and the stars of the menu will have you drooling before you’ve even tried them. The first one is their Pavlova Pancakes: vanilla pancakes layered with mascarpone and passionfruit syrup, topped with strawberries, meringue, and maple syrup. Or (surprise surprise) their Nutella French Toast: brioche French toast sandwiched with Nutella and topped with chocolate sauce, Oreo crumb and vanilla ice cream. Who said you couldn’t have dessert for breakfast?
Sure it's sweet, and that’s why we think you should add a side of crispy bacon, but you certainly won't regret ordering either of these. However, if you’re up for something a little more savoury we’re also obsessed with their Breakfast Waffles. Think smokey chorizo, grilled halloumi and roasted tomato on top of some super fluffy waffles.
The lunch menu is also worth a visit thanks to the likes of their salmon and quinoa salad with avocado salsa and sour cream and their popcorn chicken and grilled halloumi burger.
For all the coffee lovers, Tiago is as addicted to coffee as anyone else in Perth. They’ve teamed up with Margaret River Roasting Co and are serving the good stuff all day, but they’re also welcoming a guest blend every month if you’re up for trying something different. Adding to this, Tiago’s takeaway coffee window is open every weekday from 7am to 9am, so all of you northern ‘burbs kids can get your coffee fix on the way to work.
Tiago has also just launched a catering service. The catering boxes range from savoury to sweet, morning tea to grazing, and gourmet rolls to fruit boxes. So if you’re hosting a lunch or business meeting near Joondalup but can’t get to the cafe, then order a box of goodies.
Tiago Kitchen is open seven days a week and they also take bookings.
