Vic Park locals rejoice! You guys will be joining the likes of Mount Lawley and Leederville and getting yourselves a street party next month. Huzzah!
The partaaay will be held on 29 November on Albany Highway between Dane and Mint streets from 2pm to 8pm and is set to be an awesome day filled with music, food, carnival rides, market stalls, art and fun. We had a chat to The Vic Park Collective to find out more about the street party!
WHAT’S IN STORE FOR PEOPLE LOOKING TO ATTEND THE SUMMER STREET PARTY?
A crowd of 20,000 people is expected to join the celebrations at the inaugural Vic Park Summer Street Party. This village-style street party will have something that appeals to all ages—the young and hip, families, couples—and will feature live music, food, street bars, kids entertainment, market stalls and more! And, entry is FREE.
WE LIKE THE SOUND OF THAT, CAN YOU TELL US THE EVENT HIGHLIGHTS?
Live summer music ranging from jazz to smooth pop to samba and brass. Two entertainment stages will feature local bands, DJs, big bands and soloists. There will even be a street band battle, cultural performances and an aboriginal smoking ceremony.
There will be food galore with alfresco offerings from local restaurants and cafes onto Albany Highway, street bars, carnival rides, art activations, plenty of retail therapy, pop-up market stalls and a silent disco as night falls.
HOW WILL THE VIC PARK SUMMER STREET PARTY BE DIFFERENT TO THE OTHER STREET FESTIVALS AROUND TOWN?
The urban village of Victoria Park has fast emerged as a popular place to live, work and visit—combining a vibrant restaurant, retail and social scene and a backdrop of unique historic charm. The street party will capture this energy and diversity with a range of activities and entertainment to suite various tastes and demographics across the afternoon and into the night. The program has been curated by Upbeat Events (who organise the Light Up Leederville Carnival) to feature a mixed-bag of attractions that suit all ages.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT VIC PARK?
Vic Park and East Vic Park has a really unique charm—the mix of old and new creates a fantastic energy that is comfortable and casual, yet hip and progressive. The area is experiencing a boom right now and there is a huge growth expected in the next three years, which makes the promise of the cafe strip even more appealing.
WHAT ARE THE VIC PARK COLLECTIVE’S FAVE SPOTS…
