As far as we’re concerned, if you didn’t post a photo of your breakfast to Instagram, it didn’t happen. We know, we know, society is constantly on the warpath and shaming all the #instafoodies out there, but we think it’s time to stand up and be proud of our talented food photography ways. I mean, you wouldn’t go on an incredible holiday and not take any photos now, would you?
When it comes to Insta-worthy food in Perth, there’s one place that really takes the cake, and that’s tbsp—an awesome Bayswater cafe which dishes up some of the most satisfying food porn we’ve had the pleasure of laying eyes on. And the best bit? The staff at this delicious foodie haven totally embrace the food photographer within all of us, so there’s no need to feel any shame!
Get ready for your mouth to water because here’s some of Perth’s most Insta-worthy food.
Brioche French Toast
AKA, the most delicious French toast of your life. Head Chef Brian Kong has created the most perfect blend of sweet, tart and crunch with what is most likely one of the most Instagrammed dishes at tbsp. Just look at this beauty, piled high with dehydrated strawberries, cereal crunch and whipped strawberry butter. Once you’ve finished taking photos (a side angle really makes this dish shine, FYI) let the buttery brioche melt in your mouth as you’re whisked away to foodie heaven.
Who doesn’t love some #yolkporn on their Insta feed? Not any of my friends, that’s for sure, because they can’t stop liking my pics of tbsp’s famous brisket benedict. Tender pulled beef, beer-braised onions, slow eggs and hollandaise atop crusty ciabatta—this is the eggs benny of your dreams. You might want to get a friend in on this one so you can capture that yolk in its best light.
Fried Chicken Sandwich
If fried chicken isn’t your thing, you’ll want to think again when it comes to this beast of a sandwich. A juicy, fried, pickle-brined chicken Maryland, pickled cucumber and gochujang slaw are stuffed into a soft brioche bun to create the most epic sanga you’ll ever wrap your mouth around. You’ll commence drooling immediately and won’t stop until well after the last bite has disappeared. BRB, just heading back to tbsp to order another.
Black Sesame Pancake
An Asian fusion spin on a Dutch classic, the black sesame pancake at tbsp is as delicious as it is beautiful. Featuring some more tasty crunchy stuff, this time of the matcha variety, you better brush up on your photography skills before eating this dish as you’ll want to tuck in immediately. Topped with crème fraiche, just the right amount of maple syrup, seasonal fruits (we scored strawberry, persimmon, kiwi and orange) and matcha crunch—you’ll be hitting 1000 likes in no time at all.
iPhone’s at the ready, it’s time to clear out your photo folder and get snapping! Want to know the location, opening hours and all the details? Find tbsp in The Directory.
