sydney lockout laws

This is a momentous week for Sydney. After almost six years, Sydney's lockout laws will be no more as of Tuesday 14 January, 2020. So yep, you absolutely need to get out and celebrate the city at night—and help Sydney's night time vibes get their glow back.

And lucky for you, Sydney’s got some sweet midweek happenings to get stuck into.

Here are five awesome things to do in Sydney this week.

Mr Chen 30-Cent Dumplings

Hidden in the depths of Chinatown, this cheeky Chinese noodle restaurant is worth seeking out. Head chef Gary Yuen has an impressive 40 years of experience in traditional Chinese cooking under his belt and yes, he's a dumpling king as well. At Mr Chen, dumplings are prepared fresh as your order so brace yourself for generously stuffed dumplings guaranteed to fill you up, not to mention the free BYO. To top it all off, these guys host a weekly dumpling deal which means 30-cent dumplings from 5pm - 10pm every weeknight.

Kick-off the week with a little knowledge-flex on all things Harry Potter. The Kirribilli Hotel throws one of the best trivia nights around, packed with a tonne of prizes. All you need to do is contact the hotel prior and tell them how many players are on your team and the time you wish to book from (questions begin at 7.30pm on the dot).
