5 Awesome Things To Do In Sydney This Week

This week, it's all about loading up on cheese, comedy at The Grounds and izakaya bars serving up sake, Japanese craft beer and cherry blossom-infused sake.

Fratelli Fresh Cheese Week Dinner 

This month, Fratelli Fresh is choosing to celebrate all things cheese and we are celebrating that choice. At a rotating host of Fratelli Fresh venues chef Gabor Denes is putting on an amazing 4-course cheese inspired menu. The menu is a cheese-filled dream featuring grilled Tomino Piemontesino, a five-cheese ravioli, gnocchi with pancetta, peas, radicchio and goats cheese and baked ricotta cheesecake. World Square Cherry Blossom Festival

Cherry blossom season is officially upon us so brace your bodies for a foodie fuelled festival that embraces the very best of this dainty flower. Oh Matcha is serving up cherry blossom soft-serves (featuring gold flecks) and sweet, sakura-flavoured milkshakes. Gazzi is serving up pink coffee so you can start your day on theme and the Laughing Buddha Bar is backing it up with cherry cocktails so you can bookend your day with cherry blossom beverages. World Square is the place to be to experience the best that cherry blossoms have to offer and if you head down on the 20th of August you can take part in T2’s Matcha making class as part of the festival! The Comedy Store X The Grounds Comedy Night 

Get ready for the first-ever comedy night in The Garden at The Grounds of Alexandria. In collaboration with the Comedy Store, The Grounds are offering a night of non-stop laughs. With performances from Andrew Barnett, Sam Simmons, Luke Heggie, Lizzy Hoo and more, the talent in this line-up is no joke! The team at The Grounds weren’t kidding around on the food front either with a special menu from Executive Head Chef Paul McGrath, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks on offer. Dollar Dumplings At Crane Bar

For a lot of people, Wednesday means Hump Day but for the folks at Crane Bar, it’s Dump(ling) Day. Every Wednesday from 12pm to 10pm you can score $1 dumplings at Crane Bar and sink a few beverages with their Happy Hour running from 5-7pm. Dumplings are incredibly moorish and at $1 a dump you can certainly have as many as you want! Vego and Veggie options are available too of course! Head here for more info.

Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival

This year, our very own massive Cherry Blossom Festival is all about celebrating Japan’s foodie traditions, cherry blossoms (obviously) and health and wellness practices like a casual dose of “forest bathing”. The festival will be held over nine days and there’s a heap of events to get around including the Hanami festivities. Here you’ll find the Cherry Food Village packed with feeds like an actual bento box inspired by the Cherry Blossom Festival. There’s also an izakaya bar serving sake and Japanese craft beer like Coedo and cherry blossom-infused sake because, why not?

When: Until Sunday 25 August
Where: Auburn Botanic Gardens
