Fire Up For Cocktails And Campfires At This Regional Winter Festival

By Lucy Bell Bird
25th Jul 2019

Now in its second year, this three-day festival showcases the very best that Orange and its surrounding areas have to offer. We’re talking bonfires, feasts, campfire cooking, readings from authors—not to mention a truckload of amazing food and award-winning wine.

The festival kicks off with the Millthorpe Night Markets. A free event that will set the tone for the rest of the festival. Head on down to the beautiful and historic Millthorpe Village and get ready to indulge with a bunch of wintery treats. Enjoy gourmet toasties from the Second Mouse Cheese Company, Fresh Fodder soups and wine from a whole host of local winemakers including Cumulus, Twisted River, Slow Wine Co. and more.

On Friday you're in for The Building for Fire It Up, a night of performances from ARIA-award winning Mike Carr and local musos Kyle Manning and Amy Viola.

Saturday promises to live up to the hype of the night before with fondue by the fire at Rowlee Wines and if that’s not enough vino for you, you can head on down to wine and marshmallows by the bonfire at Heifer Station. You could also opt for a bit of culture and self-improvement with a knitting workshop at Adagio Mill, or a pop-on over to the readers and writers festival to hear from authors Meg Keneally, Tim Ayliffe, Summer Land, Felicity McLean and Debra Adelaide.

On Sunday, check out the Feast and Fire Long Lunch with a workshop from Botanica Flora in Milthorpe’s historic theatre before heading into local hatted restaurant, Tonic, for a feast.

There’s a bunch of other activities on offer at the festival so make sure you head to their website for more information.
