Strange Things Will Happen At MOFO 2017

By Phoebe McRae
12th Oct 2016

Pack your bags and get set to head to Hobart culture lovers, because MOFO is back and it’s stranger than ever.

Curated by Brian Ritchie of the Violent Femmes, MONA’s annual avant-garde festival of music and art, MOFO, offers something for everyone, with a one-woman rock opera, musical wrestling ring, 24-hour sound marathon and interactive endurance walk on amplified salt in a shipping container, just to name a few.

Expect a contingent of fresh commissions, odd collaborations, and world premieres, including the opening of ‘A Little Fomo’ for families and kids.

Running from January 18th all around Hobart, the festival will end with a Gatsby-style ‘Weekend at Walshy’s’ on-site at the museum from January 20th to 22nd, so cut loose and bust a move at the notorious late-night art-party, ‘Faux Mo’, or test your limits at the walking on coals empowerment workshop at MoMA (the MONA market). What could go wrong?

Tickets go on sale Monday October 17th. Find the full event line-up here.
