If you thought things couldn’t get any wilder at Taronga Zoo, think again. Sydney’s legendary animal kingdom is kickstarting an eco-retreat and you’re going to want to be all across this one.
It’s been donned "The Wildlife Retreat" and offers up 62 next-level luxury suites designed by Cox Architecture.
The retreat houses four different kinds of spaces including the Bushland Room, which will have you waking up to iconic Australian bushland complete with wild birds; there's the Animal View Room which overlooks the retreat’s resident sanctuary; and if you want to catch the sunrise over a shimmering Sydney Harbour as furry friends shuffle outside, then the Harbour View Room has got you covered.
Finally, for those of you that really want to live your best life the Treetop Suite will have you drinking champagne in a tub with panoramic harbour views. Just casually.
On top of this, all rooms have been designed with sustainability at the helm of their foundations so you can rest assured you’ll be maximising on all the good times while simultaneously minimising your carbon footprint. The design features green initiatives such as solar photovoltaic systems, cross-laminated timber (which contains a lower environmental footprint than concrete and steel), recycled water and LED light fittings.
Each room package includes a sanctuary tour, dinner at Me-Gal Restaurant curated by award-winning chef Gursu Mertel, a daybreak walk, a morning tour, buffet breakfast and complimentary access to the zoo.
And good news, proceeds from the retreat will go towards the conservation projects for this not-for-profit wildlife organisation. So you can sleep soundly knowing that your night of luxury is helping preserve our unique Australian animals against extinction.
