The wave of true crime content is ever growing and there’s no doubt Netflix has taken crime documentaries under its wing—and then to the next level.

The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann (which has just dropped on Netflix) takes a detailed look of the disappearance of 3-year-old Madeleine McCann, who vanished from the seaside resort of Praia de Luz in Portugal, while on holiday with her family back in 2007.

It was a disappearance that reverberated around the world as the Portuguese police together with Scotland Yard mobilised a major investigation, which would go on to become the most high-profile missing child case in British history (and the world). Scope the trailer below.

Whether or not you think the world is too saturated with docos trying to solve cases and a line needs to be drawn, there’s no denying that true crime entertainment is still on the trajectory. As for how far is too far when turning tragic crimes and unsolved mysteries into pop culture, well, The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann will definitely bring forward a number of questions for you.

Watch the documentary here.

You can also check out a new true crime podcast about the case.
