Mac DeMarco | Music On A Monday

By Adam Gerrard - 09 Dec 2013

After gaining exponentially increasing success over the past two years, Demarco is touring Australia for the very first time in December. He has played at huge festivals and headline gigs across the US and Europe, but despite a large fan base in Australia, has yet to find the opportunity to make it to our shores, until now.

Since being picked up by Brooklyn indie record label Captured Tracks, his first release Rock and Roll Night Club was a collection of sleazy, Elvis-like crooners that ooze sex and drip with fun. 'I'm A Man', 'Baby's Wearing Blue Jeans' and 'European Vegas' are definite highlights.

His next release, 2, was a more 'mature' effort—it dialled down the sleaze and replaced it with more earnest subject matter and delivery. It's certainly not as raucously fun, but whatever it gives up in terms of fun it trades in for enduring song-writing.

He is known for doing some crazy stunts at his gigs, and The Zoo seems like the perfect place for him to get weirder than usual, so be sure to make the effort to get down there to witness a truly unique entertainer.
