Just when you think to yourself, ‘damn, I really need to cut the carbs, get back in the gym and sort myself the heck out’, news hits of yet ANOTHER food festival in Brisbane—and this time it’s Italian. Oh s**t.
Festitalia, now in its 11th year, is the biggest festival dedicated to Italian culture in Queensland (it’s also backed by the Italian Consulate, so you know it’s legit going to be authentic as all hell), and unsurprisingly has us a little hot under the collar every time we think about the food that will be on offer. Wait for it…
More than 30 food stalls and pop-ups will be appearing at this year’s Festitalia including some of Brisbane and SEQ’s best Italian restauranteurs and food trucks: Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers, La Cucina Mobile, La Macelleria, Feul By Salt Meats Cheese, Miss Piadina, I heart Calamari just for starts.
Food-wise, you’re looking down the barrel of freshly made wood-fired pizza, pasta, calamari, arancini, focaccia, gelati, cannoli, biscotti and (obviously) espresso on tap.
Oh, and we forgot to mention, there will be both a cannoli AND gelato eating competitions on the day!
In addition to all of this glorious feasting there will be a tonne of top-shelf Italian entertainment keeping spirits high: from world renowned pizza slingers, to traditional sword fights, Italian pop stars and Aussie TV icons—this is as Italian as it comes.
So gear up for this year’s Festitalia, Brisbane—it’s going to be a total carb-fest. How good!?
