A north side favourite, and a cult-followed market stall before that, Banh Mi Factory has been dishing up some of the best banh mis this side of Vietnam for yonks—and now you can get them in Newstead. Landing in a hole-in-the-wall spot on Austin Street, their second permanent location is takeaway only, making it easy to grab a banh mi, rice paper roll, rice bowl, vermicelli noodle salad or bowl of pho for lunch. 

You probably know by now that Agnes Bakery, the baked goods pop-up that got us all through lockdown, is opening a permanent bakery. Well, prepare yourselves, because we finally have an opening date, with the bakery hitting James Street in New Farm on Thursday 21 October from 7am. Taking over the old site of Arc + Family, with a custom-built wood-fire oven going in, the baked goods are set to be even better, and you can bet those kouign-amanns will be on offer, along with plenty more. An institution among pizza and pasta lovers on the Gold Coast, Gemelli Italian has finally made its way to Brisbane, and brought its Nutella bomba dessert with it. A glam, split-level space with dark wooden archways and a patterned ceiling, the venue features a large marble bar at one end, but that’s not the only spot pouring drinks—right next door is Bar Tano, an opulent aperitivo bar decked out in green marble polished concrete and shiny mirrors. 

Behind the fully restored brick facade of the Stewart & Hemmant building, this new Italian spot is as good looking inside as it is out. With vintage looking lights hanging from high ceilings, exposed brick walls, pops of sage green and a glass-walled wine cellar in pride of place in the centre of the venue, Rosmarino is a stunner, and the perfect spot for an intimate date night. 

Opening almost directly across the road from sibling venue Zero Fox on Vernon Terrace, Unbearable Bagels has taken over the former site of an old convenience store, gutting it entirely and giving it an industrial makeover, with almost the entire interior taken up by an open kitchen. It’s not all just grab-and-go, however—if you want to sit and enjoy your bagel at leisure, there’s a handful of tables scattered around the outside, along with a high bench along the inside window. 

Located in the centre of Fortitude Valley is Brisbane's newest Japanese restuarant, Kenjin. Step inside and be transported to Japan, with cherry blossom trees overhead, a koi wall and plenty of neon lights. Giant plush booths provide ample space for big groups looking to dine together before a night out while smaller groups and couples can nab one of the high tables dotted around the venue. 

At Enoki Coffee & Co, Stafford’s newest breakfast spot, everything on the menu is vego, and almost everything can be made vegan, which means your weekend hunt for a vegan and vegetarian brunch just got easier. It may be small, but you shouldn’t find it too hard to score a table, with seating both inside in the mint green interior or out on the sunny footpath. 

If you're a bubble tea addict, you may already know of Machi Machi—this Taiwanese bubble tea spot has a cult following in Taiwan, and has already opened stores in Sydney and Melbourne. Well now Brisbane has scored their own Machi Machi, where you can sip on their famous bottled milk teas and lattes with panna cotta, as well as their caramel-topped coffee milk teas and crème brûlée-topped black milk tea. 

Thanks to Brisbane's near perfect weather, which makes outdoor drinking a total vibe, we all join in on a collective cheer every time a new rooftop bar opens. So let us introduce you to Ooh La La, the newest rooftop spot to add to your weekend repertoire. Perched atop C’est Bon Restaurant and Bar in Woolloongabba, it's the newest addition (opening Friday 9 July) to the crowd favourite French restaurant, and is worth a trip whether you're having dinner downstairs or not.

Possibly one of Brisbane's most Instagram-worthy cafes, Andonis serves all day breakfast, decadent desserts, lunch, dinner and signature fruit inspired cocktails. While the OG location can be found in leafy Yeerongpilly, a second spot in Yeronga means you've got double the opportunity to find them, and both have relaxing dining areas. However, what's on the menu is the real attraction.

You’re probably already well and truly familiar with Little Red Dumpling—this popular dumpling eatery has venues right across the city, from north to south and east to west. Their latest location though, might just be their best yet, hidden inside the basement of the old St Luke’s Church Of England in the city—the same church you’ll find Pancake Manor housed in just upstairs. 

Although only two kilometres from the city, you’ll feel a world away from the rush of Brisbane at Victoria Park's Bistro. Situated right next to the Victoria Park Parklands with stunning views of the city skyline, it's not hard to stick around and soak up the lush green surroundings. 

Lücha Black Bar and Dining comes to us from the team behind Lucha Kitchen and Bar, just a hop skip and a jump away in the CBD. A long, curved black bar is the centrepiece of the venue, surrounded by speckled stone-topped tables and plush chairs, all in muted colours of navy and teal. If you’re with a big crew you’ll definitely want to nab one of the tables with a lazy susan for all the food you’ll order—the menu features a lengthy list of Chinese eats, many featuring the restaurant’s signature tea-infused flavours.

Oat milk on tap, self-serve nut butters and over 500 different cheeses are just the begining of what Harris Farm Markets has to offer. Starting their Queensland presence in Clayfield late last year, the gourmet food market has expanded to West End in a bigger and better fashion. In West End at West Village you'll find the Harris Farm Markets flagship Queensland store and their second biggest store in Australia. Family owned, the store is known for it's local produce and massive range. 

Sitting side-by-side with La Costa in the Valley, The Parlour is a glam, Gulf of La Spezia-inspired cocktail bar, adorned in curved booths, cocktail trolleys, vintage photos and marble tiles, all of which create a setting you’d almost expect to find Ernest Hemingway or Virgina Woolf sitting in, regular holidayers in the Gulf of La Spezia when it peaked in the 50s.

Sister venue to Leonards Bar & Bistro just next door, glamorous Dawn has an almost French Riviera-feel, with scalloped chandeliers above plush grey stools at the bar, green lounges and an outdoor laneway featuring a vibrant mural. 

Inspired by the chic, modern bistros you’ll find in bustling international cities like New York and Paris, Leonards is relaxed enough to hit up for a mid-week lunch but equally as perfect for a glamorous date night.

Bulimba paint and sip studio Rose Soiree knows the importance of having a good backdrop for your post-painting session Instagram shot—so they've gone and painted their whole studio pastel pink, and added a bright neon sign or two for good measure. The paintings you'll take home look as good as the studio too, from your classic florals to flamingos and monsteras, all of them bright, vibrant and perfect for your bedroom wall. 

When Freja's Cafe transformed in Elska, a fine dining restaurant, Wilston locals were understandably disappointed about the loss of the their favourite breakfast spot. But with the recent move of Elska over to New Farm, the corner space they left behind was ready to be filled with Sunday morning brunchers once again—and newbie Clementine has stepped up to the plate. 

Taking over the reigns from Mister Paganini in South Bank is Nonna's Pizza & Deli, the lastest venue from the team behind Ole Restaurant, Mucho Mexicano and Downtown Istanbul. Combining an Italian restaurant, deli and bar into one massive, relaxed venue, Nonna's is the place to go for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and everything in between. 

The West Village is now home to West End’s newest gem, Beirut Bazaar. Tuck into Lebanese delights at this brand new tapas restaurant and bar which brings a little slice of Beirut to Brisbane. They’re serving up classic Middle Eastern food oozing with aromas, spice and zest, so it will be hard to find something you don’t like on the menu.

Another from the Ghanem Group, Iris Rooftop, perched at the top of Hotel X in the Valley, has Spanish vibes in spades. From the canopy of wisteria above the entrance to the dreamy, curtained booths lining one side of the rooftop, this spot will whisk you far away from the Valley streets below. 

While the front bar of Eleven Bridges is a pretty good spot to nab a perch, we suggest cruising straight through and down the hallway lined with old record album covers to find their secret lounge out the back. Fitted with cosy couches and quirky antiques, we have a feeling you’ll instantly feel at home once you take a seat.

First up, Opa is jaw-droppingly beautiful—you’ll want to ‘Gram everything immediately. The best-looking seats in the house are undoubtedly the cosy grey booths with arched windows and futuristic looking u-shaped lounges lining the back wall, but the large group tables with curved wooden bench seating by the river boast the most impressive views. The whole venue is adorned in stone tiling, white walls and vibrant greenery, reminiscent of every Mediterranean restaurant you’ve ever dined in.

Finding a hairdresser that just 'gets' blonde hair isn't always an easy task—which is probably why BLONDEE, the Newstead hairdressing salon dedicated to blonde hair, has a waiting list of over 800 clients. But for anyone on that waiting list, or even off it, owner Faith Williams has some seriously good news—she's opened a second BLONDEE salon in Morningside. 

HSW is all about the pop-ups these days. First there was Ciao Papi, now a permanent resident, and then La Mexicana arrived with margs and guacamole on lock. Now, there’s Spuntini, an Italian-inspired aperitif bar for bulk Aperol spritzes and plates of antipasti.

Spotted: Charli XCX was snapped dining at Bianca on Friday night before her Laneway appearance. Will her next album be a certain shade of peach or was she just there for the pizza fritta and burrata? Either way, we applaud your choice of restaurant, Charli. 

Nodo is slowly taking over every corner of Brisbane with their gluten-free baked doughnuts and we are here for it. Their latest cafe has landed in Hawthorne, featuring a full breakfast menu as well as their cult-worthy sweet treats. 

Brisbane, we've been developing quite an obsession with low and slow cooked American food over the last few years, and it's easy to figure out why—there is no greater comfort food than a platter of tender, melt-in-your-mouth meat with a side of chips and coleslaw. The latest addition to the scene is Frankie's Smokehouse, who've taken over a corner of Wooloongabba with the biggest wood-fired smoker you ever saw. 

Say hola to Howard Smith Wharves latest pop-up, an LA-inspired Mexican cantina that's taken over Citrus House, one of the precinct's stunning event spaces (which has been sadly underused for the past year for obvious reasons). With Stanley's Head Chef Louis Tikram at the helm, the vibrant eatery is the place for uncomplicated Mexican-style street eats—not to mention plenty of margaritas. 

Housed in a  quaint white cottage, the new Dandelion & Driftwood (just a few doors down from the original) is a quirky mix of old and new, with comfy vintage lounges, sleek marble-topped tables and bench seating for relaxed lunches and dinners (yes, they're doing dinner now). 

Galavanting around South Bank? You can't not stop in at Ice Dream for some of their kawaii ice creams and sweet creations that you have to eat to believe. 

New to the string of superstar eateries along Given Terrace in Paddington is Given—an Asian street food fusion eatery that is quickly gaining a cult following. The newcomer hails from the pros behind fellow Paddington local, Ngon and if it hasn't already been on your radar, read on. 

Say hello to Ant & Ola Café, a South African fusion dining experience that promises big flavours, smooth coffee and friendly service. The interiors are designed to make you feel right at home, with timber floors, wooden benches and comforting touches like cushions and pot-plants scattered about. 

Having re-opened recently after a massive transformation, Yeerongpilly's Slipstream Brewing is the place to go for a craft brew or two on the south side. With a clean, modern look now overlaying the original industrial grunge warehouse style space, Slipstream’s shiny new tanks full of hops fermenting away are visible down the back, with the finished products available at the lengthy bar lining one side of the space and a shady beer garden out front.

Deception Bay's new Dude & Duke Beer Hall is more than just one venue—it's actually three in one. Head along to the relaxed, all-black, neon-lit eatery and you'll find Dude&Duke Burgers, Smoke & Wings and Pour Easy inside, all of which have something different to offer, meaning you don't have to rock, paper scissors it out with your crew to decide where you're going to eat. 

Bringing a little bit of country charm to Albany Creek, White Horse Ranch is part cafe, part gift store, and already has locals frothing over their brunch offerings just a few weeks after opening. Named for the farmhouse vibes that inspired the airy, boho interiors, you'll find ample seating inside and out (and yes, the porch is dog-friendly), with a corner of the inside space dedicated to a range of cute and quirky locally made gifts and homewares. 

No, that address isn't a typo—West End's iconic Gunshop Cafe has opened a second joint in Toowong, bringing their delicious brunch eats (and their decade or so of hospitality experience) to the western 'burbs. Landing on Jephson Street, just around the corner from the busy Toowong Village, the new cafe is sleek and modern where the West End venue is rustic and industrial, with seating inside and out. 

La Costa Restaurant is a homage to the sultry tones of the Northern Italian coastline all on it’s own. Behind the white, heritage-listed facade you’ll find a dining oasis fitted out with exposed brick columns, seafoam-green and white décor, woven basket light fixtures and European table tops—all designed to transport you to slow and sensuous summers on the Italian Riviera.

If you’ve ever attempted a barre class, you’ll know that they are a hell of a lot harder than they look—and after one session at Newstead’s new Sculpt Barre And Pilates, you’ll be feeling the burn in muscles you never knew you had. 

Fans of Barbecue Mafia take note—the team behind the cult-worthy purveyors of low-and-slow-cooked meats have launched another venture that will get you drooling, this one dedicated to all things Tex-Mex. Taking over Upper Mount Gravatt’s Cenzo’s Cafe + Bar from Thursday to Saturday (Cenzo’s will still operate as a cafe by day, and supply the drinks—including frozen margaritas—to go with the meaty feeds by night), South Austin’s menu features those same slow-cooked meats you love at Barbecue Mafia, only now they’re wrapped up in tortillas and topped with delicious Tex-Mex sauces and spices. 

The old saying "you don't make friends with salad" can officially be put to rest, with Brisbane's best purveyors of the stuff, Botanica, opening their fourth location in Hawthorne on 25 January, meaning they've got every side of Brisbane covered in the side dish department. Not that these salads should be anything but a main—and if you've yet to sample the joys of Botanica's kale and crouton number you'll soon agree that humans and salads can be very best of friends. 

Landing in Windsor’s new Colwill Place development, Bear Boy Espresso will be familiar to anyone who’s visited the Gold Coast cafe of the same name, but if you haven’t, you’re in for a real treat. The cosy new space has replicated a few of the design features from its big brother, including the pink marble counter and that adorable logo on the wall. Here though, it’s more than just the counter that’s pink, with the whole interior a shade of coral, including a curved booth for larger groups in one corner. As well as indoor seating, there’s also a sunny deck outside, perfect for breezy mornings. 

Joining its sibling venues Cielo Rooftop Bar and La Costa Restaurant around the corner, La Velle is much more than just a wine bar. Part bottle shop, part wine club, part snack stop, it’s the perfect place to head for after-work drinks, pre-dinner drinks or even just a cheeky lunch of focaccia with a glass of rose.

There’s no doubt about it—we here in Brisbane love our Korean fried chicken. But the latest addition to the KFC scene isn’t just dishing up crispy wings and legs, they’re also dishing up one of the most carb-heavy, drool-worthy feeds we’ve ever seen. We give you, the carbonara bread bowl with whole fried chicken, a round loaf of bread filled with creamy carbonara pasta and topped with crispy chicken pieces. Holy moly. 

Big fan of Rick Shores, but not a fan of the lenghty drive to get the iconic Burleight spot? Well then you might want to check out Southside Restaurant, the brand new eatery from the team behind the Gold Coast venue that just landed in South Brisbane's Fish Lane. Not that you'll recognise Fish Lane when you get there—the upper end of the laneway has been transformed into a vibing, jungle-like dining precinct, with Southside's sister spot, Kiki, open for open air drinks and snacks just outside. 

Eight different bars and party spaces in one sounds like the kind of boozy choose-your-own-adventure night that will finish with you telling your Uber driver you just had ‘the BEST night EVER’ on your way home, right? Well, that’s just what you’re in at The Prince Consort, so you best start stocking up on Hydralyte and prepping for a big one now. 

Landing with a bang in Bulimba, Darvella Patisserie comes to us from Giorgina Venzin and the Venzin Group, who you would absolutely know from their other venues, Pawpaw Cafe and Mons Ban Sabai. Named for the town in Switzerland where Venzin’s father grew up, the hole-in-the-wall bakery has a Swiss feel—but you’re not here for the interiors, you’re here for the carb-loading.

OTTO Ristorante sits on prime Brisbane real estate. In their new location in South Bank, the view is on point all year round—overlooking the Brisbane River and city skyline—and the classy Italian fare is always generous and delicious. It’s safe to say that this restaurant is the place to head if you want to impress a date, the in-laws or for your next lunch with the girls.

Fans of The Rabbit Hole Cafe in Wynnum and Seven Hills will be stoked to hear that the team behind the two cafes has opened a third, Rabbit & Co, this one on Chatsworth Road in Coorparoo—the former home of Little Sista. Like its siblings, the new spot is quite the stunner, with plenty of timber, tiles, greenery and sage green walls, and seating both inside and out.

200 kinds of cheese. That's what you'll find in the dairy section at Clayfield's new Harris Farm Markets, the first of two Brisbane stores from the iconic NSW-based grocer, with a second store to open in West End next year. The family-owned store has finally made its way to Queensland, bringing its reputation for fresh, local and seasonal produce with it, as well as the biggest selection of cheese you've ever seen.

Sister venue to Dirty Sultan, a glamorous Turkish-inspired rooftop bar known for its Turkish delight cocktails, Rose Room has taken over the space at street level below, and transformed it into an Instagrammer’s paradise. With rose gold champagne bottles lining the entryway, rose murals adorning the walls, pink curtains hanging from the windows that open to the street outside and pink, Turkish-style lamps hanging from the ceiling, the venue is a serious looker, just like its sibling upstairs. 

Turkish-inspired and Instagram-ready, Dirty Sultan has taken over the rooftop of The Constance hotel in Fortitude Valley (yep, where Up On Constance used to be). Though the views are pretty spectacular from the massive daybeds lining the edge, you’ll probably be too busy eyeing up the venue to notice, because this baby is quite the looker, featuring pastel-pink soft chairs, velvet bench seating under a vibrant mural, green walls and haning Turkish lanterns.

How dedicated are you to finding the perfect burger? You know, one with the softest, most uniformly toasted bun, a melt-in-your-mouth meat patty, gooey melted cheese and just the right amount of sauce. Well, no matter how many burgers you've eaten your way through in the quest for perfection, we bet it's not as many as the creator of Broken Hearts Burger Club, Jay Gordon.
