It’s a tough gig hosting the world’s crème de le crème of surfers.
And we get to do it all over again at our famed Snapper Rocks next month. That’s right, the Quiksilver Pro and Roxy Pro are returning along with our mates Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Steph Gilmore, plus the King Kelly Slater, newly crowned world champ, John John Florence, and the whole gang of wave-slaying professionals.
While the action on the water is razor sharp and the nearby bars and clubs always lay on the party offerings after dark, it often felt like there was something missing to create that true festival atmosphere.
Well folks, opening weekend of the 2017 Quiksilver Pro will seriously step it up a notch with the creation of our very own surf music event: Cooly BeachFest. Now, if the line-up and slick-as-hell website are anything to go by, this is the real deal!
Headlined by 2015 Triple J Hottest 100 winners, The Rubens and joined by The Beautiful Girls, Dorsal Fins, Bec Sandridge, and The Vanns, it has all the hallmark ingredients of being one of the coolest things to do on the Gold Coast this March.
On the close of competition on Saturday, March 18, meander around Greenmount Headland and head straight for Queen Elizabeth Park. Expect a sound stage set up, market stalls, street food vendors, pop-up bars, good vibes, and a jovial local crowd, all with the glittering backdrop of Coolangatta Beach. Sounds like fun, eh?
Tickets are on sale now at $55+BF for adults and $45+BF for groms 14 years and under; children under six are free.
March, you’re shaping up to be a beauty!
