Gyms, along with fitness, yoga and Pilates studios were among the many businesses that have been forced to close in hopes of stopping the spread of Coronavirus. And, while we’re all for physical distancing, we also don’t want to see these guys go out of business.

But of course, Gold Coast trainers and teachers are an entrepreneurial bunch and plenty of them have done a quick pivot to get their studios online and offering streamed workouts and virtual sweat sessions.

We’ll take a wild guess and say even more will be jumping on this bandwagon, so we’ll update this list as newbies come through—feel free to check back regularly or hit us up if your virtual fitness space isn’t on the list.

The Body Method

Hands down one of the best Pilates studios on the Gold Coast, The Body Method is answering your sorrows about their current closure with a jam-packed schedule of virtual, live-streamed classes where you’ll be able to join your favourite instructors from home. Finding the silver lining, TBM is encouraging you to take this as an opportunity to lock in a yoga, barre or Pilates date with your friend in lockdown overseas or your mum over the border, as you’ll both be able to tune in online, at the same time. Obviously, it goes without saying that a post-class catch-up over a coffee or wine, is a must. Sign up for your next class here

Recover Wellbeing

While Recover Wellbeing has temporarily closed their Currumbin studio, they’ve thrown open the doors to their online community. If you’re looking for a free fitness session on the Gold Coast to start your weekday, these guys are offering a 20-minute class on Facebook at 8.30am, from Monday to Friday. Want more? Recover Wellbeing also has an online portal for paying members where you’ll gain unlimited access to Pilates classes and video tutorials, their favourite playlists to get you moving, plus helpful tips and resources from professionals for a happier, healthier lifestyle. The team is generously offering a free 7-day trial, so head here to sign up.

Ritual

Although it’s likely you’re already missing Ritual’s stunning Palm Beach wellness studio, we’re so excited they’ve taken their yoga, meditation, pilates and barre classes online. Run by Rose and Sophie Lamont, along with their trusted team of teachers, you can now access Digital Ritual for $22 a week. What does it involve? Without leaving the house, you’ll gain unlimited access to 28 live-streamed classes each week, the ability to re-watch all the classes on-demand (which is handy if the timetable doesn’t suit), plus entry into the virtual library packed with talks, classes and workshops. You can take a peek at the goods here

Emily Skye FIT

Want to commit to making your time in isolation productive? Gold Coast fitness guru Emily Skye offers a well-rounded online lifestyle program, dishing up HIIT, resistance and weight training, stretch sessions, nutritionally-balanced meal plans, beauty classes and mindfulness exercises. So by the end of this coronavirus chaos, you’ll emerge a healthier and stronger version of you, which can only be a good thing. While Emily offers a 7-day free trial on her program, if you’re looking to make a commitment from the get-go, you can sign up for a one, three or 12-month subscription (no lock-in contract).

KX Pilates Miami

Supporting local businesses who are venturing online to support you during these trying times can feel good, which is why, as much as we’re loving the free access option for the KX At Home Workouts, we’d suggest choosing the premium package if you can, where proceeds will go directly to your studio, helping them to stay afloat. Sign up and purchase through the KX app. Oh and it’s worth mentioning these guys are renting their reformer beds while closed, so you can continue your workout at home. Just email them here.

Reforma Pilates Studio

Stay active during your staycation at home with Reforma’s live Pilates session every Saturday morning at 8am on their Facebook page. Grab your towel or mat, don your comfiest exercise gear, clear some space in the lounge room and kick off your weekend with the 30-minute class.

Inner Vision Pilates

In times like these, having a solid support network is essential for getting through the day to day. And that's exactly what Inner Vision Pilates offers its members. By signing up to their IV Pilates Membership Program for just $25 a month, you gain access to online Zoom classes, a goals and nutrition consult, access to private Facebook support networks, and tonnes more. With over 25 classes per week, there's plenty to choose from, so it's easy to fit a class or two into your schedule.

KBOD Dance & Fitness

Whether you're new to the fitness game, or a long-time subscriber, KBOD Dance & Fitness promises to start you on the journey to your best self. They offer over 100 online workouts, weekly newsletters, delicious recipes and dietary advice, and bucketloads of inspiration and support. The subscription renews every seven days, so you aren't locked in to anything, and their dance exercise routines offer a fun and fresh way to get in shape (and look good doing it).
