Hasn’t autumn been turning it on these past few weeks?
There is nowhere else in the world we’d rather be right now, ‘cause if you’ve been beach or river-side lately you’ll agree this is Gold Coast livin’ at its absolute finest. Fortunately for us lucky cookies, the glorious weather is set to continue right through.
So, don’t let this weekend pass you by. Add any of these awesome things to do on the Gold Coast to your diary, ‘cause before you know it, winter will be a knockin’.
Blues on Broadbeach | Thursday, May 19 to Sunday, May 22
Yep, it’s back for another year! The organisers of Blues on Broadbeach couldn’t be happier with the balmy weather, ensuring the 15th instalment of this signature event will be one of the best things to do on the Gold Coast this weekend. Check out the website for a jam-packed roster of both toe-tapping outdoor concerts and intimate sessions in various venues throughout Broadbeach including Jupiters Hotel and beachside at Victoria Park. Best of all, it’s completely free!

Good Vibes Markets | Saturday, May 21
Here at Metropolist, we go a little cray cray for markets, hence why we want you to know about another fab vintage, fashion, and handmade crafts market that’s garnering a loyal following. Good Vibes Markets by the gang at Gold Coast Design Collective are taking over the Currumbin RSL this Saturday between 8am—1pm. Add to the mix food trucks and pop-up stalls, live tunes, and plenty of sunshine. Those good vibes come for free.

Crafternoons + Busta’s Barbeque launch at Burleigh Brewing | Sunday, May 22
Like you ever needed an excuse to drink direct-from-the-source craft beer on a Sunday arvo. Burleigh Brewing’s Sunday Crafternoons are already a huge hit, but this weekend is extra spesh. New Texas-style BBQ mobile food purveyor, Busta’s Barbeque will be using the day to unleash their restored 100-year-old steam boiler barbeque pit on the Gold Coast. How? They’re generously giving away a whopping 200 FREE lunches to the first happy folks through the doors. This Sunday Burleigh Brewing opens at 2pm (through ‘til 6pm), so you’re going to want to get in early for a free feed of smokey barbeque goodness (think pork, beef, jerk chicken, chorizo, and house-made slaw). Pair it with a $15 beer tasting paddle, a soundtrack of spinning vinyls, and we reckon you’ll be as happy as a pig in…
Where: 2 Ern Harley Drive, Burleigh Heads
The Village Markets, Rudd Park Pop-up | Sunday, May 22
Everyone’s fave Gold Coast creative gathering, The Village Markets is mixing up the scenery this weekend and setting up shop across the road from Burleigh Hill. The pop-up replaces this week’s usual market at Paradise Point, meaning southerners get a triple dose of goodness in May. Have a friend with a bump or a birthday coming up? Buy them something at TVM ‘cause there’s nothing like supporting the incredible wealth of talent right here on our doorstep. Whatever your motive, just come anytime between 8am—1pm for a coffee, convo, live acoustics (by more ridiculously talented individuals), and those salty sea breezes.
Where: Rudd Park, Goodwin Terrace, Burleigh Heads
Outdoor lovin’ while the weather is fine | All weekend long
While you mightn’t need to break out the woollies just yet, winter is officially almost a week away. Eep! How did that happen? After warming up all summer, the water is still a balmy 25 degrees (at least we’re not in Sydney where it’s already 21 degrees, ugh). Yet if the weather turns, this could be one of your last chances to really make a splash (comfortably). Given the surf swell is non-existent, why not hit up some of the best spots for SUP’ing on the Gold Coast, or any of our fave beaches, or secret swimming spots that are even quieter at this time of year. How about one of the best walks on the Gold Coast or rally the squad for an epic day trip? Have you visited Talle or Currumbin Creeks early morning lately? Jaw-dropping stuff. Whatever you do, promise us you’ll get amongst it. #blessed
