New Opening: Melbourne Has A New Fashion Mecca!

By Clare Acheson - 17 Feb 2016

Stuck for a new-season look? Had a particularly tough week? Or literally spent the entirety of 2015 feeling like the most fashionable thing you owned was your pyjamas? Sometimes, Listers, you’ve just got to shop it out. We’ve found exactly the place to go for all of our favourite brands… And you’ll NEVER guess where it is.

If you haven’t managed to make it to the epic Ringwood shopping hotspot, we can assure you that it has received the Urban List seal of approval - and by that we mean we’ve already spent this month AND next month’s paycheck there. Oops.

The newly opened Eastland fashion hub recently launched with a top shelf selection of local and international brands, making it our fave destination for everything from a full-scale fashion blowout, to a spot of window-shopping, to a quick catch-up on the latest trends.

Flying the Aussie flags are local heroes Alpha 60 (whose super-wearable dresses and separates couldn’t be more Melbourne if they tried) and Sass and Bide, our go-to for a statement dress and some stunning accessories. Keeping it simple but not scrimping on the luxe are Skin & Threads (all cashmere everything, get in my wardrobe now) and Morrison, whose silk slip dresses are the best investment you’ll make all season.

In need of something a little more flash? Sydney icon Rodeo Show is on hand with a store packed full of great dress options, fashion-forward separates and minimal jewellery pieces that tie a look together without trying too hard. Meanwhile, shoe brand Dolci Firme’s new season collection of shoes and bags are exactly the sort of pieces that you can 100% justify if it’s pay day… Or if it’s any day, really.

Thankfully for us fashion lovers with European tastes, the Eastland team have hand-picked a selection of international brands too. Standouts are Scandi fashion house Scotch & Soda, whose relaxed Amsterdam looks are enviably easy to wear (and who make one of the best classic leather jackets we’ve found this season), and print-heavy powerhouse Marimekko, whose gorgeous Finnish fashion and homewares designs are on every style-savvy wishlist out there.

All that under one roof? Our shopping plans are coming together *strokes chin*... Plus, Eastland is super-convenient to get to, whether you’re taking the car or jumping on a train. You might need an extra seat for those bags though...

All that shopping sounds like hungry work, right? Thankfully, Eastland has you covered with Jimmy Grants, Huxtaburger and heaps of other delicious eateries, including healthy option Hunky Dory or a taste of Asia with Ang Ang in Town Square. If your idea of heaven is a day’s retail therapy followed by a cocktail or two, we can’t recommend Hunter & Barrel enough – the bar-restaurant’s aged Negronis slip down all too easily with a side of garlic chilli prawns and the hunter’s smoked meat platter!

When it comes to getting your latest fashion fix, an all killer, no filler shopping experience is what we’re longing for. But we’ve got to hand it to you, team Eastland: this is one fashion destination we’ll be adding to our shopping maps for future indulges. Now, does my wardrobe have room for that third pair of heels?

Always.

Eastland is located at 175 Maroondah Highway, Ringwood. Check out the full range of fashion retailers here.
