Give up any dreams you had of keeping a svelt winter figure. Melbourne is here to punish your hubris with a huge (and kind of OTT) chocolate orgy. It’s called the Wicked Chocolate Festival, and it kicks off Sunday morning at the Prahran Market.
This is Wicked’s second year, and the line-up is wall-to-wall choc. You couldn’t make this thing more chocolate-y without dipping Matt Preston in a vat of melted Dairy Milk wearing nothing but a honeycomb cravat.
Doughboys Doughnuts are back again, this time with a brand new Lamington Doughnut (!!). 400 Gradi will be on-site, serving up their signature Nutella calzone. There’ll be a Zumbo’s chocolate dessert bar, chocolate ice-cream affogatos from the guys at Pidapipo and Market Lane Coffee (now THAT’s a collab), plus a pop-up caravan bar serving a selection of desserts, each designed to terrify your cardiologist. Chocolate fountains will be gushing all day long, and there’s a bunch of chocolate themed masterclasses, courtesy of in-house chocolatier Tad Lombardo.
The main event is the Weiss Chocolate Eating Contest, back by popular demand. A chance for seven heroes to eat half a kilo of chocolate buttons in two minutes. The winner gets $250 worth of Cacao Hunters goodies, plus the comfort of knowing their $60k of HECS debt was not accumulated in vain.
Where: Prahran Market, Prahran
When: 10am, Sunday 7 May
