It’s time to start counting your pennies and cashing in that hard-earned annual leave because Melbourne CBD has transformed into a smorgasbord of wallet-destroying shopping events that are going to lob that infamous house deposit further out of reach than us youngins could have ever imagined.
This December, Melbourne CBD’s most iconic retail institutions have thrown open their doors for extended trading hours during a month-long shopping event, and our bank accounts can’t stop, won’t stop, shuddering at the thought of it. After an unforgettable marathon sale event earlier this month for Shop The City, our favourite sale extravaganza is continuing this silly season and it's all happening until December 24 in the CBD.
“I’m literally going to shop myself into bankruptcy if I go anywhere near the CBD during these insane sales.” False. Get ready to block out the rest of the entire month of December in your iCal because the CBD is literally hemorrhaging with FREE festive events and activities all December long.
Melbourne Central, Emporium Melbourne, QV Melbourne, Melbourne’s GPO and The Strand Melbourne are playing host to epic sales (you'll find us spending big at H&M's 50% off sale at Melbourne's GPO and the Midas Boxing Day Sale which has already started at The Strand Melbourne), and events across the three entire city blocks, which means there has never been a better excuse to leave your Christmas shopping to last minute.
Obviously, it’s insane to expect you to carry the four pairs of high-top Converses, three Fossil watches and the sixteen-piece dining set that you bagged for a bargain all the way home. So, you can rest assured that Melbourne’s comprehensive public transport system is running ALL NIGHT, every night (from 22-24 Dec). Yep, you can forget Uber surcharges (phew!) because Yarra Trams are offering free rides within the CBD and Metro Trains are running over 3,500 services in and out of the city each week. Easy, peasy!
And do the Christmas miracles stop here? Heeellllll no. Not only did Melbourne CBD throw the sale event of the season earlier this month (aka. Shop The City), but the entire CBD has extended this purchasing party all the way through to Christmas Eve. This means extended trading hours, daily festive events and countless chances to win quality gifts and prizes.
Plus, don't miss this year's most important photo opps at the Christmas Carousel at QV, The Tinsel Room at Melbourne Central and The Mirror, Mirror Experience in celebration of Snow White's 80th Birthday at Emporium Melbourne. You'll find us chowing down the free schnitz on December 20 (5pm - late at QV) and The Rose Bar at Emporium Melbourne (ends Wednesday December 20 at 9pm, so be quick!).
There is literally no end to the Christmas miracles enveloping our city this stupidly cheap silly season, so why would you shop anywhere but our very own Melbourne CBD?
