We've all gone a little loony over Luna! Every Wednesday night, the Queen Victoria Market transforms into Luna1878, a night market full of Melbourne's most talented performers, designers and gourmet food vendors. You can dine on the winter fare from Hammer & Tong, 400 Gradi and Hoy Pinoy (just to name a few!) and peruse the wares of Melbourne's craftiest artisans and designers. All this, plus mulled wine and jazzy tunes – it's pretty much the most fun you can have on a Wednesday night!

Round She Goes is an award-winning indoor fashion market featuring over 60 stallholders, selling everything from preloved designer wares through to one-off vintage accessories, setting up shop at Box Hill Town Hall. Those who like to snack while they market (hey, it's serious business!) will be pleased to know Iv's Burritos Mexican Food Truck and Mister Nice Guy Vegan Cupcakes will be on hand.

This Saturday, head to the Northcote Social Club's band room (mind the sticky carpet!) and you'll find Northern Regards Artisan Market. This market boasts an impressive selection of sustainable, up-cycled and recycled handmade wares. Oh, yeah, and they also serve beer. That's right, beer! Be sustainable, get boozed…sounds like the perfect Saturday, right?

Held on the first Sunday of every month, NEW CRAFT is one of Melbourne's finest curated art and craft markets, boasting a selection of the very best handmade clothing, jewellery, ceramics, textiles, glass and timber works. Grab a borek, peruse the handmade wares and prepare to see your savings drain.

This month, the North Melbourne Market has said goodbye to the Lithuanian Club and hello to a complete re-brand. We now have Melbourne Mystery Market, a roving market filled with music, art and interactive fun times. The first market, held on the 9th of August at The Jam Factory, will feature indie fashion designers, talented musicians and a host of crafty activities for you to get involved in. The rest, they say, is a mystery!

Okay, we're a little bit smitten with the Love, Evelyn Market. Held on the first and third Saturday of every month, this Melbourne market is absolutely bursting with clothing, books, assorted vintage wares and handmade pleasantries. Feeling a little parched? Love, Evelyn will be serving up beers and Bloody Marys (really!). A tarot card reader will also be doing the rounds.

Ditch the Kindle and head to Federation Square Book Market, the largest weekly book market in Melbourne. The market features over 5000 new and pre-loved titles, including literature, history, gardening, travel, art and kids' books. A bibliophile's paradise.

Considered one of Melbourne's best markets by hipsters the northside over, Brunswick Flea boasts both new and pre-loved wares, featuring everything from delicious goodies to handmade accessories to second hand books and old school vinyl.

This one's a TUL favourite! Every Sunday, thousands of bargain hunters flock to the Camberwell Sunday Market in search for a car boot bargain. Head to this popular trash 'n' treasure, pick up a jam donut (you're going to need the energy!), and work your way through the second-hand, homemade and knick-knacky goods. PS. Haggling is totally acceptable here!

The Docklands Sunday Market, held at Waterfront City's Promenade and Piazza, boasts an impressive array of art, vintage ware, retro clothing, old books and jewellery. Keep an eye out for Terry the piano player – he sure knows his way around a keyboard! Usually held every Sunday, this month the Docklands Sunday Market will only be held on the 10th of August…so you'd better head there then!

As they say, one man's trash is another man's treasure, and no saying could be truer for the Bentleigh Sunday Market! The Sunday trash 'n' treasure trove boasts over 145 stalls, with vendors selling everything from plants to pre-loved clothing from their car boots.

Bend & Snap, held at 1000 £ Bend on the last Sunday of every month, showcases the incredible creations of local illustrators, fashion designers, jewellers and textile artists. Inspired by all of the art? Take your sticky fingers to 'Crafternoon Corner' for an afternoon arty fun. Macaroni necklace, anyone?

Thrifty fashionistas, have you checked out Take 2 Markets yet? Well you most definitely should! Boasting a huge collection of recycled designer and vintage fashion, this Melbourne market is a go-to if you're looking to spruce up your style at a fraction of the retail price. Note: the date and location changes month-to-month, so you'll be heading to Geelong West Town Hall in August!

Rose St Artists Market, aka ultimate Fitzroy hipster magnet, is one of Melbourne's best art and design markets. Head there every weekend to shop prints, photography, fashion and jewellery, pick up some tasty treats and relax to some beats…oh, and if you're in need of a little two-wheel action, they also hire out bikes! Ravenous after your ride? Young Bloods Diner, on the rooftop above Rose St Artists Market, makes a mean coddled egg.

Another Fitzroy favourite, the Fitzroy Market boasts 65 stalls selling all things vintage, second-hand and hand-made. Make sure you grab one of their gourmet pies (they're too darn good!) and spend your Saturday chatting to the makers.

It may be freezing, but that won't stop us from heading to St Kilda's The Esplanade on a Sunday to peruse the makers' market. The Esplanade Market features over 120 unique stalls, showcasing an impressive selection of handcrafted wood products, artworks, jewellery, homewares, artisan goodies and oh so much more!

City slickers don't have to trek out to the 'burbs to get delicious Victorian produce – just head to the inaugural Southbank Farmers Market! The first farmers market in the City of Melbourne launches this Saturday, with more than 40 local producers selling their wares, including Golden Axe Cider, Milawa Cheese, Woodfrog Bakery (that sourdough!), Dr Marty's Crumpets, Plains Paddock…the list goes on! Catch a cooking demonstration by Nic Poelaert of Brooks (shows run at 9am and 11am) or peruse the produce to the sweet sound of live tunes. One lucky person will also win a dinner for two at Brooks!

?On the fourth Saturday of every month, Slow Food Melbourne invites sixty of Melbourne's finest growers and food producers to share their quality produce at Abbotsford Convent. You'll be able to buy your produce directly from the farmer that grew it, ensuring money goes right back to where it deserves to be. What's better than that?

Grab a coffee and brekkie at Coburg Farmers Market's popular food stands before you gather your goods from the farmers' stalls. There's absolutely heaps on offer, from fresh fruit 'n' veg to nuts and oils, and ready-to-eat sweet treats. Kids just can't stay still while you shop? Coburg North Primary School has a huge playground for them to monkey around in.

One of the westside's favourite farmers markets, The Substation Farmers Market serves up fresh produce and local handmade goodies, sold directly from the producer to you! What's on offer this month? Goldfields Farmhouse Cheese, Spring Creek Organics, Doctor Chan's Feeling Good Ferments…and that's just to name a tasty few!

Veg out in an entirely new way at Veg Out St Kilda Farmers Market. Held at organic community-run garden, Peanut Farm Reserve, on the first Saturday of the month, Veg Out boasts everything from organic fruit and vegies to free range eggies, all sold directly from the producers to you.

This community-owned market, held at Collingwood Children's Farm every month, features more than 50 of Victoria's best producers and artisans. Boasting everything from organic veggies to tasty BBQ fare (hello buffalo sausages!), Collingwood Children's Farm Farmers Market would have to be one of Melbourne's best farmers markets. Meander through the farm grounds, pick up some produce and perhaps even milk a cow!
