Well hot damn, it's 4th of July! And we're like totally super excited about all the fun things to do in Melbourne to celebrate our second favourite nation. We'll be heading straight to The B.East to celebrate accordingly this Friday – with a Habanero Chilli Dog in one hand and Texas Freedom Fries (complete with pulled pork, jack cheddar and smoky BBQ shallots) in the other. And, once we finish that lot, we'll celebrate ever further with a Smores Ice cream Sundae, featuring honey and shortbread ice cream, chocolate ganache and toasted marshmallows. There'll also be banjo playing and bourbon shots a-plenty.
Yep, we sure aren't letting the Yanks have all the fun this 4th of July! Want to know what else is on? Don your cowboy boots and check out our guide to the best places to celebrate 4th of July in Melbourne. Yeeehaw!

A visit to Madame Truffles didn't quell your snuffly, truffly desire? Fear not, my fungi-lovers! On the 55th floor of Rialto, Vue de Monde is staging Black Diamond Dinner, a five-course degustation celebrating the most magnificent of fungi. Matched wine will round out what is sure to be a decadent evening at one of the best restaurants in Melbourne.

Take your Friday night drinks to even greater heights at Eureka 89's pop-up bar. A $25 ticket will land you a US-inspired cocktail or a glass of Laurent Perrier champagne and live entertainment, not to mention those incredible panoramic views of Melbourne CBD. A selection of American-themed grazing dishes will be available, including smoked beef sliders and spiced pork ribs with apple radish salad. Yum!
Arty folk, in case you haven't heard the news, the Friday Nights series has returned to the NGV's Great Hall for Italian Masterpieces. Every Friday night through winter, guests will peruse the exhibition after hours, hear pop-up talks from a mix of contemporary artists, critics and curators and sample delicious food and vino. There'll also be DJs on the decks and a steady line-up of live music. This week you'll boogie on down to the unique 80s pop-synth sound of Owl Eyes.

Australia's ultimate stair climb challenge, Stadium Stomp, is on this Sunday! Melburnians will climb the thousands of steps of the MCG to raise money for their nominated charities. Registations to climb are still open, so head to the website and get your stomp on!
Here at The Urban List, we go crazy for camembert, batty for blue vein and ga ga for gouda…yep, we're absolutely cheese-obsessed! One of our favourite things to do in Melbourne is to sample the cheese at Spring Street Grocer, and this Saturday we'll be doing just that at their Cheese 101: Behind The Rind class. Held on the first Saturday of every month, the resident cheesemongers will be there to answer all fromage-related questions, from pairings to storage to the dreaded dairy intolerance (a fate worst than death!).
11:00am – 12:00pm | $30 per person
After you OD on cheese, head to Cumulus Up on Flinders Lane to sample vinous delights at City Cellar Door. Held on the first Saturday of every month, you'll be able to sip your way through Victoria's finest wineries; the top drops available for purchase at cellar door prices. This Saturday is all about the Mornington Peninsula and, boy, we are more than happy to make our way through the region! What's more, the kitchen will be roasting a whole pig, offering up crispy pork buns to soak up the booze. Entry is free and vino-filled good time guaranteed.
Have you ever tried Mortadella? Nope, us neither, and we can't wait to get our chops around this cured meat at Ombra Salumi Bar. Run as part of the Melbourne Salami Festa, The Mortadella Sessions are instructional workshops that will teach the art of making Mortedella. Guests will also be treated to two bonus demos covering Capocollo and Pancetta. Of course, in typical Italian fashion, lunch will also be included. Mortadella, Mortadella for everybody!
10:00am – 3:00pm | $160 per person
While we're all feeling a little scant this weekend (it's all that cheese, wine and cured meat!), those who have a little extra cash to splash have the rare opportunity to dine with Oliver Krugg, the man behind one of the world's most exclusive champagnes. The champagne heir (um best job in the world?) will be the star guest of an intimate four-course dinner at famed Italian restaurant Grossi Florentino this Saturday night, which will include Krug's most exclusive drops.
From 7:00pm | $500 per person
