The rumours that you heard are true, but let's keep this hidden bar on the down low, okay? Opening next Friday 13th of June, The Underground Experiment will be showing Smith Street revellers a good time like no other.
The Underground Experiment will be brought to us by the guys from The Noble Experiment – a 1920's prohibition style drinking house which cropped up in a basement in the 3066 hood, not even six weeks ago. For The Underground Experiment, the space will be reinvented as a flamboyant cocktail bar from the 80s and 90s. Located in the charming Cromarty's building on the corner of Smith and Otter Streets, it's the perfect place to get yo' groove on to your favourite old school beats whilst sipping classic cocktails with a modern twist.
The Brit Barkeep, Linus Schaxmann, is keeping it fresh and fun when it comes to creating the masterpiece drinks; expect delicious flavours with a mighty alcoholic kick. Everyone's favourite Sex on the Beach Cocktail will contain actual edible sand (what even?!) and your Blue Lagoon Cocktail will be completed with a swimming fish (no need to call in PETA – it's not of the alive variety).
The last time you hung out in someone's basement you were probably underage and drinking boxed wine, so lets just say The Underground Experiment will be a vast improvement. With the option to hire a booth and kick back with your pals, there is no going wrong when it comes to spending your weekend here.
Don't get too comfortable though, this space will be constantly evolving so you're best to check out the cocktail bar soon before it changes right in front of your very eyes. Inspired by global trends and leading international bars, who knows what The Underground Experiment will transform into next.
