We are not worthy. Again the humble little state of Victoria continues to punch its weight when it comes to restaurants and hospitality on the world stage.
It was no surprise to see Ripponlea favourite Attica again hit the list, this year rising up one spot to #32, and there will have been some wild scenes in Birregurra last night as Brae entered the top 50 for the first time, landing at #44.
Taking out the top prize for World’s Best Restaurant was New York’s Eleven Madison Park who muscled out last year’s winner Osteria Francescana. Overlooking Madison Park, the team behind Eleven Madison Park take a holistic view to the food preparation and service aspects of the restaurant, making sure that every punt gets the best experience they can get. Definitely one for you to visit if you’re heading to New York anytime soon.
Other awards given away on the night included the World’s Best Female Chef which was received by Ana Ros, World’s Best Pastry Chef won by the creator of the Cronut, Dominique Ansell, and the ever interesting Heston Blumenthal taking home the Diners Club Lifetime Achievement Award.
