It's official. Margaret River is about to get fancy and, whether you love the idea or hate it, you'll want to sit back with a cup of tea and get up to speed on the juicy details of the brand new Westin hotel that will be hitting Margaret River in 2023.

Part of the Marriot International brand, the Westin Margaret River Resort & Spa will sit on the southern headland of Gnarabup Beach—so you can expect some pretty spectacular views of the ocean. It will feature 120 guestrooms, a restaurant, lobby lounge and, the part you've all been waiting for, a pool bar. It will be capped at two stories so there's no need to worry about an eyesore of a skyscraper on our pristine coast.

Visitor numbers to the Margaret River region were at an all-time high for the past two years before COVID hit. With the $70M expansion of the Busselton Margaret River Airport, numbers are expected to increase even further over the next 10 years, so there's a clear need for more accommodation options.

Premier Mark McGowan has announced that the project will create about 300 construction jobs and another 100 ongoing jobs once the hotel opens; and there's no denying that is good news in the current climate.

Some locals have voiced concerns that the land may be sacred, but a lot more research needs to be done and we have high hopes that the developers will be working closely with the local Noongar people to ensure the land is respected and no sacred sites are destroyed.
