Cheese fondue

Stay calm, cheese lovers, but the W Brisbane’s Living Room is bringing back an iconic 1980s classic with a delicious twist, and it’s one worth popping bottles for.

No, it’s not neon or athleisure (although), it’s the cheesy heaven that is fondue, only for this decade it’s been classed up with Woombye’s Washrind and Triple Cream Brie. Excuse us while we wipe away the drool.

Now being served up every Thursday to Saturday from 4pm, the copper pot of dippy melted goodness comes paired with a spread of apricots, strawberries, figs, dates, charcoal breadsticks, lavosh and seasonal mushrooms. Want to make it a little more savoury? Grab a board of shaved meats or better yet, a pile of fries drizzled in truffle oil and topped with freshly shaved truffle.

For the dessert fiends out there, the swanky bar is also dishing up Valrhona chocolate fondue with everything you could ever want for dipping. Think marshmallows, mini waffles, raspberry muffins, pancakes, honeycomb and croissant pieces. You can even spike it with a dash of whiskey or Kahlua in your chocolate pot, although the list of champers on offer might be all the boozy good times you need.

At $49 for two for both the chocolate and cheese versions, you won’t need to break the bank, but if it’s an evening of all-out celebration you’re after, live it up in style with a flight of three champagnes each, or better yet, a whole damn bottle. Date night, girls night, boozing with mum—the possibilities are endless.
