ITALI CO. DEGUSTATION

In foodie news this week, one of St Kilda’s best restaurants has nabbed Italy’s best young chef of the year. Awarded the prestigious title by L’Espresso magazine, experience a showcase of Tommaso Verni’s risotto-making, gelato-weaving talents this Wednesday at Itali Co. through a six-course degustation of classic and contemporary Italian flavours. BEACH BURRITO LOCALS ONLY PARTY

Our too-cool friends over at Beach Burrito are throwing a partay this Wednesday night to celebrate the re-launch of photographer Hugh Holland’s skateboard-filled book, Locals Only. Head along to one of our favourite Melbourne Mexican restaurants to feast on the delicious tacos, burritos and beers on offer all night. It’s Hugh Holland’s first time to Melbourne too—he will be signing from 6pm, so don’t be late ‘cause we’re guessing this one is going to fill up fast! Or, gather the troops and book via email or online.

Thursday 11

AUSTRALIA BURLESQUE FESTIVAL

Secretly, we’re all burlesque lovers. What’s not to like after all, between all the shimmer and shaking, glimmer and glitz? The Australian Burlesque Festival is opening this Thursday at the Wonderland Spiegeltent in Docklands. Running until Sunday night, there are four exclusive feather-filled shows that bring together the best of the best burlesque from local to international performers. Every night showcases a different kind of burlesque, with a focus on circus and vaudeville performances on Thursday. For more information visit the website or book here.

GO RED FOR WOMEN

Take part in the Heart Foundation’s annual fundraiser for heart disease this Thursday. Simply wear a bit of red and make a donation to one of Australia’s biggest charities. Insta-lovers can snap a selfie with the hashtag #GoRed or #WeWillBeRed. Visit the Heart Foundation’s website for other creative ways to get involved! With a chilly winter on the way, why not brighten up the day?

That’s what’s on in Melbourne this week, Listers!
